At what point would IBU to eat the pizza?

We have friends coming over for dinner this evening. Me and DH have young kids, so when we arranged this I asked my friends what time they'd like to come for and they suggested 5pm so we could all eat together with the kids, and then have drinks etc once they were in bed.

Confirmed the plan this morning, all was fine. Pizzas went in the oven just before 5.

They're still not here! I've not heard from them at all. Tried messaging but no response. They are a ten minute train journey away and no rail disruptions, and I live minutes from the station.

Most importantly, I havent eaten today because I've been so busy trying to clean the house with two young kids hanging round! Have fed the kids their dinner but want nothing more than to tuck into fresh hot pizza....

Eat the pizza. Enjoy the pizza.

How rude! I’d eat and let them sort out their own dinner when they arrive

Do it. Shove their portions onto plates for microwaving when they eventually decide to arrive.

It is rude isn't it?! I thought 5pm was a bit early but they wanted to see the kids before bedtime so that was fine.

Just had a message saying they have been visiting his family (in the same small town I live) and time escaped them, so they're on their way.

Damn it. Want pizza NOW.

Pizzas only take 10 minutes... I would have waited till they were there before putting in oven.

There's no point letting yours go to waste. Eat yours and enjoy, they can warm theirs up in the microwave.

Bernadette not typical really, they're usually a "ten minutes late" kinds couple which doesn't bother me in the slightest especially when relying on public transport.

Put pizza in if they aren't there eat there's.

youngest these take half an hour from frozen and I have a very small oven so I was doing two, then another two (whilst keeping the others warm). So ready about now!

I'm obsessively on time always, but I wouldn't have actually put the pizzas in until they'd arrived.

They don't take long to cook, surely it'd be like 'hi let me take your coat, here's your pizza'

But because it’s already now cooked, I’d message them back saying that the kids are hungry so you’re eating now. And suggest they can order a takeaway later..

*Jumpy& I did think that, but like I've said, it has taken me nearly an hour to cook enough for everyone and the kids go to bed very early because just dropped their naps, so couldn't really leave it much later.

If someone was cooking I would make sure I am on time it's plain rude. Unless there is a genuine problem and they can't make it.

It's particularly rude because you were working to their suggested time!

But once they arrive, I hope you find yourself enjoying their company so much that you forget the hour+ lateness...
