Is this a question or a statement?

Idontwanttotalk · 05/10/2019 08:35

What?

stuffedpeppers · 05/10/2019 19:29

I want the ability to live and work in Europe as I did before - for all my life. Just because 17 million Brits do not want to - why should I give up that ability.

I want an asylum passport

Ffs !

  1. That’s quite offensive to actually asylum seekers (you know, the ones who have been persecuted and faced death and what not).
  2. European citizenship isn’t a thing. You mean to ask for German etc citizenship.

Until boris/Corbyn (lets be honest, they’re pretty much the same person aren’t they?) start shooting remainers you are going to have to apply for a visa like the rest of the world. It’s really not that hard.

Cockw0mble · 05/10/2019 20:08

Are you at risk of harm amounting to persecution on the basis of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership of a particular social group? (Aka part of the definition for being a refugee)

No, you aren't....

andyoldlabour · 05/10/2019 20:54

They banned asylums years ago, you can't get into them for love or money.
On a more serious note, most of the people entering the UK are not genuine asylum seekers or they would stay in the first EU country they entered, however.
Despite the racist/xenophobic/little Britain nature of the swivel eyed people who reside in this fair land, they want to come here to suffer all manner of abuse, instead of enjoying the wine and joie de vivre of la belle France, or the sausages of Germany.
I wonder why they are drawn here.
Well, it is because they are economic migrants, who are not fleeing war or famine, they have simply heard about our benefits system.
My parents used to live in Dover, and their street was populated mainly by people from Romania, who never worked, and I assume it wasn't from savings, because the AVERAGE wage in Romania is 4000 Euros a year.
The same is being played out all over England, where we have UK born homeless, living and dying on the streets, being described as losers/wasters/junkies, yet the economic migrants who have not paid into our system are treated infinitely better.
Why?

hiddenworlds · 05/10/2019 21:09

Offering a joint UK/EU nationality/citizenship would actually be a good option for those who want it but sadly it doesn't exist- EU citizenship comes through the country only.

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/10/2019 21:18

Move to Europe then.

Marriedwithchildren5 · 05/10/2019 21:20

Off you pop! Why do you need asylum though? I think you'll find you're not an asylum seeker. More of a twat!

Really222 · 05/10/2019 21:27

Ages ago there was talk of some kind of EU citizenship you could buy into - lead by people like Verhofstad. I am not sure what happened to that. Will try and find a link.

Anyway I am with you OP. Asylum might have been the wrong word, but I understand your sentiment.

It kind of does actually, for those many of us that are eligible for Irish passports! To be fair, I've had mine since I was 18, before BREXIT was a twinkle in anyone's eye, but I believe that the waiting time for an Irish passport has now trebled!

Babysharkisanearworm · 05/10/2019 21:31

People work and travel all over the world. There is paperwork but that's life.

UrsulaPandress · 05/10/2019 21:35

That’s only 1.6m.
