Why did DD’s HoY address me in an email as Mrs (my last name). But she addresses DH and DH’s EX as their names when it comes to DSC.

It was a similar email on the same situation so no context differences but DH and his Ex got a ‘Hi (firstname)’ ???

Isn’t this weird how she was so formal with me and not them? Grin

Maybe they'd not know your name? I'm on first name terms with the staff, but that's because I'm very involved with things and volunteer a lot. I doubt they know my husbands name.

@Someonesayroadtrip She emails my email address with my name in it...

I wouldn't fret about this too much OP. Teachers get so used to being addressed as Mrs X by their pupils that it doesn't seem as formal to them as it would to most of us.

Is this really worth the head space?

sd249 · 04/10/2019 17:20

It might just be that she has had contact with them before.

The first time I email parents I am formal and see how they respond. If (when they respond back) they use their first name I use their firstname going forward.

Your daughters teacher is likely way too busy for it to be a conscious thing and please don't think anything of it!

Maybe she knows your husband's ex better than she knows you.
