CF? Re lift share

My DS age 15 is part of a football team with 15 players. Their winter training starts tomorrow with the session at 7 til 8pm approx 8 miles from our home town.

Once the session time was announced I suggested a lift share arrangement between the parents to save us all trailing out that time of night. We've come to a great arrangement to ferry 4 lads each for those wishing to partake so each boys parents only need to go every 4 weeks.

My CF dilemma is, there are 2 boys from out of the area who wanted to opt in but it means the other 13 boys' parents have to drive past their home to take those boys home. The general feeling between the other parents is that its cheeky to expect this and those 2 boys need brought to our town to be took the rest of the way and picked up again after the session. Devils advocate of me is that its mean spirited to exclude these boys from the arrangement and their parent never gets the benefit of the weeks off.

What do you think?

Their parents should drive additional weeks to make up for the inconvenience to others.

Witchinaditch · 03/10/2019 19:36

Unless it’s really really far out the way if it’s just every 4 weeks I’d say include them.

QueenArseClangers · 03/10/2019 19:38

How much further do these two lads live? If it’s super far then the two sets of ‘outlander’ parents should sort it out between themselves.

roseenglishrose · 03/10/2019 19:39

We have this for lifts to swim club and just suck up the extra time/inconvenience on our night for the love of not having to do as many trips!

Lllot5 · 03/10/2019 19:42

Depends how far it is I think. Perhaps they can do it between them so only once a fortnight.

Notthetoothfairy · 03/10/2019 19:42

Depends how far away they live, would probably include them if they are no more than, say, 4 miles out of the way.

Teachermaths · 03/10/2019 19:42

I think it depends how far out of area. 10 mins is fine, much more and I think they are slightly CFs.

Are they near each other?

Drabarni · 03/10/2019 19:45

The other two sets of parents should sort it between them. They live out of the area, what a stupid suggestion.
I presume they made it there and back last season.

TheSummerHolidaysMakeMeCrazy · 03/10/2019 19:45

Thanks for the replies.

The distance isn't much but it's the refusal of the other parents to do it, I can't force them so I'm just trying to get my head around if we're out of order and whether I need to offer a solution. They're new to the team and I had no clue where from out of area!

Will everyone's car be big enough for 6 boys each time? Assuming they all are, I'd suck up the time if it added 15 mins or under each way.

Drabarni · 03/10/2019 19:46

What about when someone is off ill?
I always found these arrangements to much agro, there always seemed to be one parent lumbered with the arrangements too.

SleepWarrior · 03/10/2019 19:47

If the other parents refuse then I guess your 'out' is that some parents only have room for 4 boys so there'd only be room every 4th week or so which seems pointless and hard to organise.

TheSummerHolidaysMakeMeCrazy · 03/10/2019 19:48

@Drabarni so am I fast learning.

Just arrange your lift between you the closest other 3 to where you live, leave the others to sort themselves out. Perfectly reasonable, it's what my kids teams do
