To think that lots of adults skip meals?

I skip meals all the time and have done for years and years. I have always been slim so maybe that’s why. Its no good for me though, I skip meals because I have IBS and don’t like to eat before I go out anywhere, then when I do eat I’m in agony because I’ve built up lots of gas! I’m the only person I know who skips meals and I am constantly getting told off by my husband, parents and friends for doing so!!

I have IBS too so don't eat if I have to go out - which is pretty much every day for work. I usually eat after the school pick up about 3.45pm ish. It sounds bonkers to most but it works for me and I'm do used to it now I don't really miss breakfast/lunch. And the alternative of being ill isn't an option.

Catapillarsruletheworld · 03/10/2019 19:41

I rarely eat breakfast. It’s the one meal I seem to be able to do without.

i think your doing it for thr wrong reason though op rather than just it being a natural thing other posters do when they are hungry etc.yours as youve said could be more to do with your disordered eating.and often in the midst of that you wont even realsie what your illness/disorder is making you do,or just in denial to stay in safety/control.
i think for someone with diorder it is better to try and stay of those fitness pals.they arent mind for someone with a triggered or vulnerable mindset.
also i think yo uwould always be advised to try and keep to eating meals and not skipping.skipping for disorder just tends to leads to spiraling and fueling of the disorder.
it doesnt need to be be massive but something regualr to keep you going.keep you safe in a real sense as in (not ill)

Bloodybridget · 04/10/2019 00:41

Never, unless I'm too ill to eat. I love food.

PurpleDaisies · 04/10/2019 00:43

I worry about someone with disordered eating asking mumsnet whether skipping meals is ok.

Mumsnet is a bad place for advice on “normal” eating.

Bluntness100 · 04/10/2019 06:37

Op. I think you knew many people skip meals. And in light of your update it would appear that asking this question without context was simply an attempt to seek validation for uou to do it.

You have also not asked posters if they have problems with food and eating, simply asked the question.

I do skip meals as said, but I take my required calories, and am a healthy weight. I do not purposefully miss a meal, as in if I wish to eat I will.

If there is a problem with your eating then seeking validation for missing meals because others do too isnt going to help you. It's only going to harm you.

I never skip breakfast. If i had to eat one meal a day it would have to be that. I eat it at 7am-ish each morning, never really have a lie-in. Then lunch at 12:30. By tea time im not really hungry. I often skip tea and have something like toast or cheese and crackers at 9pm. Im not really a grazer neither. Hardly any chocolate, but I might have a packet of crisps if im hungry or a fruit.

I rarely eat breakfast or lunch
