Putting together a gift basket and looking for ideas.
She's having surgery next week and I'm going to see her next weekend.

Any and all ideas welcome!

Things that you know she likes. no different from any other time.
Hopefully your friend wlll recover.

Hope her surgery goes well. What about things like face masks, a good book or 2, a little good luck charm, her favourite snacks, just a few I can think of off the top of my head.

A nice book/magazine
A nice scented candle (if she likes them)
Her favourite chocolate/snacks
A handcream
A lip balm
A pair of lovely warm slippers

Ah thanks guys!

@Loveislandaddict that's the kind of things I hadn't thought about. Anything to help the actual recovery from the surgery. Peppermint tea is a great idea!!

Has anyone had a similar op and found anything in particular helpful for afterwards?

I’m currently in hospital and my dh has just bought me some wireless headphones so I can listen to tv/podcasts at night without getting tangled. They also help me to sleep as I can have one in as I drop off and it helps drown out the other sounds.

I've had cervical cancer. I had the op and then chemoradiation.

After the op, you tend to be sofa bound. I would say some nice smellies (I got some Clinique off my parents which was lovely), some nice slippers or something similar, favourite foods etc. I also got a load of amazon vouchers from work which I spent on audiobooks, DVDs, music etc. Childcare help too as I was so sore a bustling house is a nightmare. Various people took me for very short walks for a nice coffee and back to the car before I passed out in pain.

If it's chemoradiation it's quite different - spaced out, don't care about anything, trying not to vomit. I didn't want anything then!

There is a website called “Not another bunch of flowers” that specialise in gifts for people recovering from cancer.

One of those little cushion wedge shape tablet holders. Very handy if spending time in bed/on the sofa recovering.

A book called F* you cancer. I wish your friend all the best
