WIBU to be signed off for another week?

Hi everyone,

So found out I was unexpectedly pregnant 10 days ago (not planned, have DD7 and DD3. DD3 concieved through IVF after hubby had testicular cancer), but started miscarrying 8 days ago. Bleeding has almost resolved and I have a scan tomorrow. Although physically starting to feel better, emotionally I feel completley wrecked and can barely get myself to do the most basic stuff.

I am signed off until Friday with the view to going back to work on monday .The thought of going to work next week makes me feel ill. I am a clinician in NHS and have an hour or so commute each way and although I do a couple of routine clinics a week, I have a couple more clinics that are more specialist and more full on.

Would I be unreasonable in asking GP to sign me off for another week? I know work would be a distraction, but I am really struggling :(

I'm so sorry. You need to be able to give your patients the best care and if you can't do that, you need to be signed off. You are not unreasonable in the slightest.

No not at all. You have been through a major traumatic event both physically and emotionally. Take all the time you need

JustATrickle · 02/10/2019 10:05

You need more time. Be kind to yourself. Flowers

Do what you would advise one of your patients and look after yourself.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks peeps. Didn't have scan in the end as stopped bleeding and urine test now negative. Not having any symptoms and they just advised if I get any further cramping/bleeding/pain to ring hospital to arrange scan but they think I've passed everything now.

Manager rang me today to see how I am (she was off last week) and I told her I was looking at getting signed off another week and GP will do sick note. I work for NHS and they have been pretty good and not pressuring me or anything x
