Currently applied for a new job, January start. Current head is a bully and has made several staff member’s lives miserable, myself included. I don’t want to say this at interview. I don't want to badmouth my current school. I do want to ask the new school to also get a reference from the current deputy head as I think the head won’t be very kind (other reference from previous school should be immaculate). I have to have reference from current head. Can I ask them diplomatically to also take one from the deputy head without sounding like a twat? There were only two reference boxes on the application form.
