Just found out that a favourite band are playing on my birthday. It’s the kind of music that should have a mosh pit...

The venue is a traditional theatre. The front stalls (standing) is all sold out. There is space in the rear stalls (standing) or seats in the balcony.

I find it hard to imagine seeing this band sitting down, but I am 5’2” my friend coming along is 5’0”. We are both 20 years older than the last time we saw them.

Would you buy a seated ticket? Or stand at the back ( probably behind a wall of 6’ blokes probably with hats and huge curly hair)?

Get a seat.

I only ever do seated now I'm an old fart. When I was at a blink 182 gig in Cardiff about 12 years ago an obese crowdsurfer landed on my head and it took me months to recover from it.

Assuming its yanbu to get a seat I would definitely get a seat.

I have never been to a seated gig where everyone hasn't stood anyway and if you are quite far back you might be able to stand on your chair.

Get a seat.

Depends on the venue! At Brixton Academy for example, the rear standing is on the balcony so you get a view of the stage even if it isn't a close one.

If it's a band you're really up for seeing then could check you resale sites for standing tickets? I bought standing tickets for Weezer earlier this year and they were sold at face value so it wasn't a rip off.

James, by any chance? 😉

@Tartsamazeballs my brother saw Blink 182 years in the Glasgow Barrowlands. Lead singer decided to throw himself into the crowd, landed on my brother who twatted his back and had to spend the rest of the gig in the bar recovering through gritted teeth!

OP - get seated!

(probably behind a wall of 6’ blokes probably with hats and huge curly hair)?

If it's like the last time I went to see a second-time-around band, all the blokes were bald so you should be fine.

Iamboudicca · 01/10/2019 18:41

Ha! Its definitely a second time around gig. Just hope its not a let down.
