dp said in passing to mil they could use our netflix and last week we gave our details. for some reason it doesn't work and i have changed the password a couple of times to try and accommodate but it doesn't want to work on their tv. I have told them I'm not sure what else I can do and it's just not going to work. every night for the last week they have been calling 3/4 times a night asking us to fix it. we have told them it just isn't going to work but they'll just ring again. went to work yesterday and had 15 missed calls on my lunch break. it's just getting a bit much now i don't know what to do

15 missed calls just during your lunch break? That's ridiculous I would just ignore them. Maybe they can try paying for their own account it's not exactly expensive.

AdoreTheBeach · 30/09/2019 17:35

Tell your DP to sort it with them as you’ve tried and can’t figure it out. If they ring you again, say they need to talk with DP as you don’t know why it’s not working, you’ve tried.

You tried and it doesn't work what the fuck do they want you to do? Buy them a TV on which your Netflix will work? I don't understand why they keep calling you, your not going to be able to magically fix it.

pepsirolla · 30/09/2019 17:42

Also depends on which package you have ?Basic is only two devices can be used max is 6. So if you watching on TV, laptop and phone you could easily exceed your package number

vraimentvraiment · 30/09/2019 17:49

we only watch it on our tv so it hasn't got too many accounts and we pay for the most accounts they definately do have a smart tv and i have no clue why they keep calling. my partner is getting anxious picking up the phone and we've both said the exact same thing that we can't do anything more. i thought someone had gotten into an accident when i checked my phone on my lunch break and there was 15 missed calls

Do you live near them? If so, send your husband over there to make sure they are logging in correctly.

SmileCheese · 30/09/2019 17:53

To be honest I would be pretty furious they felt it warranted such a large number of calls. What would they do if there was an actual emergency and why do they feel like they can keep calling you?

Have you asked them directly what on earth they think you should be doing to resolve their issue I'd be interested to see what answer they gave.

pooopypants · 30/09/2019 17:54

Send them the link to signup to Netflix

Cheeky bastards

RushianDisney · 30/09/2019 17:58

They are utterly ridiculous, you are certainly not the unreasonable one here!

Livelovebehappy · 30/09/2019 18:14

Do they understand that they can’t use your Netflix account at the same time you’re watching something? We use my dds Netflix account sometimes, but have had the odd call when they want to watch something, as there can’t be more than one person watching/using it at the same time. It’s different to a Now box etc.

Oopsy41 · 30/09/2019 18:18

Have you only got the basic package so you can only use it on one device? That might be why it won't work

MrsMaiselsMuff · 30/09/2019 18:23

When they call again, say you'll have a look when you're next over. Repeat until they get the message.

vraimentvraiment · 30/09/2019 18:28

no we pay for the multiple accounts one and it does work as occasionally we watch on upstairs tv but it's currently logged out and they live 200 miles away and only see them about twice a year so can't do it ourselves for a few months. i'm just struggling to say the same thing politely anymore but do not have the strength for a row as it'll definately lead into

pepsirolla · 30/09/2019 19:33

Just tell them sorry it's not working for you we have tried everything. Direct to Netflix for themselves. Also please don't bombard us with calls as in a genuine emergency we may not answerGrin guess they really need to Netflix and chillHmm

Katex888 · 30/09/2019 19:41

That’s borderline stalking, I’d be miffed if I got 15 missed calls just for Netflix log in. Don’t they have any friends nearby who can help them to log in?

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 30/09/2019 19:41

Wtf? I'm guessing they have form for CFery?

Tell them you've cancelled it as it's not working at your house either. Tell them to ring Netflix help line. Or better yet tell them you don't know why it's not working and you don't care, and they can get their own bloody subscription!

Easy Christmas present idea for them though If you're still speaking to them that is.

Ohnoherewego62 · 30/09/2019 19:44

Depends on the area they live in also. Trying to share an account 200 miles away may be the issue.

Have they uninstalled and reinstalled the netflix app?

But yes, tell them you've done all you could do and it may be better if they buy it themselves. If no joy, then ignore when the topic comes up.

BouncyTigger85 · 30/09/2019 19:46

If they sign up for a free trial and then log in using those details, that will be a way to prove it’s the TV and not something you can control (or contact Netflix if the new login does work)
Don’t forget to cancel though if it doesn’t work/they don’t want to pay.

Windydaysuponus · 30/09/2019 19:47

Ask mil for her bank details for your food shop delivery....

Drum2018 · 30/09/2019 19:53

Just tell them there is a clamp down on account sharing and you have been caught out. Suggest to them to set up their own account.

sorrythisusernameisinuse · 30/09/2019 20:00

They're deff not putting in the password right. My MIL is the same 🤦🏼‍♀️💆🏼‍♀️

Fiontar649 · 30/09/2019 20:00

Are they entering your email correctly? My dad uses my account, and was entering the correct password, but had left out half the name on my email Hmm

Once we figured that out, we were flying

Loopydizzylove · 01/10/2019 07:05

I'm sure Netflix cottoned on to the whole account sharing thing and put a stop to it. Have a Google it was in the news somewhere. So mil will have to pay for her own bloody Netflix account

AlwaysCheddar · 01/10/2019 07:13

Netflix are on to people breaking their rules by sharing passwords with other households so maybe, hopefully, this is it. Your pil are cf!
