"It's a weird British thing and I've always assumed that it's based on a hatred of Irish/Scottish people."
Just what I was coming on to say - the negativity is often rooted in anti scots/anti Irish feelings/history
I'm a Scot of Irish descent with auburn hair, VERY pale skin (I don't tan I'm either ghostly white/blue tinged or red from sunburn with an outbreak of freckles!). I got grief at school about it and from about 13 the horrible comments about whether pubes were same colour! Ugh!
Even my ex when I was pregnant with dd said he hoped she didn't have my colouring! Arse! She doesn't - we barely look related! She has black hair (well dyed purple currently!), olive skin and is tall and slim - I'm 5'2" and dumpy! She does have her fathers nose unfortunately!
"I get fed up with the dumb blonde comments as I'm pretty sure that being blonde does not make me stupid." Used to get that too as I was blonde (dyed) lost of my 20's, a lot assumed I was a natural blonde as I have fair eyebrows and pale skin. Idiots!
"If it's ginger on your head, of COURSE your pubes are going to be ginger!" Not necessarily! Mine are blonde grey
I've had a LOT of comments on my skin colour too. Back when sun beds were a thing people would try and "encourage" me to use them - I'll do without the almost guaranteed skin cancer thanks! And recent years it's been umpteen "recommendations" of fake tans! For one thing I have sensitive highly allergenic skin so I'm not keen on farting around using stuff that will probably make my eczema flare, I will admit I've been tempted and persuaded on occasion but it looks weird! Not even orange! Because I have blue tones I look yellow!
