How do you know that you are not just being either (at best) disillusioned or (worse) scammed?

Are they asking you for money?

ichifanny · 30/09/2019 12:04

The real ones don’t charge you money for portfolios

hairyheadphones · 30/09/2019 12:05

Child or adult, they work differently.

Sparklesocks · 30/09/2019 12:31

Legit ones will never ask you for cash, they take a percentage of your earnings from your bookings. Anyone claiming they need money for photos/portfolio/studio rent is scamming you.

HouseworkAvoider10 · 30/09/2019 12:47

you should not have to pay to join an agency.
they will take a percentage from your modelling jobs.

Child. They’re offering to cover the costs of photoshoot but ask for a refundable deposit to guarantee you’ll turn up. This particular agency is London though so I don’t think we will follow it up as we are in Yorkshire. Would be a long and expensive journey for potentially a disappointment. So considering looking at agencies in the north, e.g Leeds, Manchester etc. But not sure how to work out what is legitimate and what isn’t .

www.juniormagazine.co.uk/fashion/10-of-the-best-child-model-agencies/ this article lists reputable agents.

I’m out of the loop now but I do know Urban Angels are a very good agent and they have an Urban Angels north branch so would suit your location.

hairyheadphones · 30/09/2019 12:56

It’s unusual for London agents to take children who live quite far out of London but I have known it to happen when the children are exceptional - DD often used to model with a girl from Leicestershire and boy from Yorkshire.

Ok thanks
