To ask if this insect bite needs treating?

Posting for traffic, sorry.

I was bitten by something 4/5 days ago on my leg and back, no idea what but it can't be anything too exciting, I live in NW England.

The one on my back is fine but my leg is sore and it's gone red, hot to touch and hard. DH drew around it last night, this morning it had improved but it's looking a bit angrier this evening and uncomfortable to walk. No temperature or weird symptoms.

Do I need to get this checked by a GP or would it be better to pop into the chemist tomorrow?

Looks like a bog standard bite to me. Hot to touch does not warrant antibiotics every time especially when it's probably just a reaction to the bite. No wonder we're struggling with antibiotic resistance if people are suggesting antibiotics for every little thing.

Looks like a normal bite to me.

Ok thanks all. Yes, no bullseye ring, just biro!

It does look similar to when I had cellulitis which is what was making me unsure.
I'll nip to the chemist tomorrow, much easier than trying to get in to see the GP

please ring 111. it could be or turn into something serious.
I have experience of witnessing someone with a slight rash, seen by out hours doc Saturday, told not cellulitis, given anbx;
on tues dressed by district nurse, with trainee GP ie qualified doc attending;
next day rushed into hosp emergency life and limb saving surgery; was NF, and a close call.
that is rare, but serious infections from breach in the skin are not so rare, and seem little known about. time can be of the essence.
better to get it checked.

This was my bite back in August. I got it checked as it was really painful and even wearing jeans hurt. Confirmed it wasn’t a tick bite and sent me away with antibiotics as they said it was infected. I’d go check it checked. I was seen by a nurse practitioner on the day and she got the duty dr to take a look and issue the script.
