Late night smoke detector beeping in holiday rental (More a WWYD?)

Renting a holiday home off one of DPs friends which makes this awkward. At 12.15am the smoke alarm started with the low battery beep. We cannot find a spare battery. After much bickering we have switched the downstairs battery to upstairs thinking that's safest. WWYD? And am I unreasonable to think in a non-city there should be spare batteries in the property?

Download and use a white noise app. Absolute game changer for situations like this- it will stop you hearing the beeping

Are the alarms hard-wired? If so, ignoring it won’t work because given enough time, the problematic one will set them all off continuously until it is fixed.

Not hard wired, just standard battery type.

Had this in a rental place in France a couple of weeks ago. Bloody thing started beeping at 5am. Took it down and took the battery out. Messaged the owner who came round that afternoon to replace the battery. He couldn’t really be expected to do any more than that.

Is there a 24hr petrol station nearby?

StyleO · 29/09/2019 01:31

We are in a small town with no late night shops (I checked). Not even a 24/7 manned fire station for 30 miles (I've been able to get replacement detectors in the night from my local fire station). Beeps seems to have gone, fingers crossed.
