Surprise Unwrap Crap!

SummersMumma · 28/09/2019 19:04

Seriously we should all boycott all these surprise, unwrap, LOL-style bollocks kids toys.
Not only are they a massive rip off, really bad for the environment and reinforcing all kinds of rubbish stereotypes BUT also these videos on YouTube of adults playing with them are all kinds of weird and unhealthy!
Let's start encouraging our kids to play with toys for the fun of the contents and not the useless bloody packaging!
Who's with me?

Couldn’t agree more!! They’re just getting ridiculous now!! Also made me laugh that McDonald’s made their straws so paper but don’t take out the crap plastic toys from their happy meals?!

SummersMumma · 28/09/2019 19:49

I am sick of wasting money on "toys" costing £15 per pop that are even smaller than the average happy meal and probably equally as rubbish.
The unwrap videos though really, really incite me

Why are they all grown adults talking in ridiculous voices and acting childish? Is it seedy or just some weird craze?

I am on a bargains page and they go wild for lol stuff, I don’t get it. The prices they pay are ridiculous! I’m glad my daughters never been into them.

hidinginthenightgarden · 28/09/2019 19:57

The adults going youtube are doing it because they are making££££

Alot of them are making more than the average wage pissing about with toys.
My eldest seems content with me saying no to that sort of crap because he will only play with it for ten minutes before it makes its journey to landfill.

SummersMumma · 28/09/2019 20:29

Clearly we all need ditch our jobs and talk bs in a squeaky voice whilst waving pieces on plastic tat around! Working a 9-5 isn't getting me rich sadly.

Luckily my DCs aren't into those toys and worship Lego instead which is expensive, but has more play value. Disposable type toys piss me off

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 28/09/2019 20:37

LOL annoys me on two fronts

  • the disposable, low quality aspect
  • the outfits. The one 6yo DD got had leather pants with a zip.. Leste encourage our young daughters to be strippers....

Luckily they seem to prefer Barbie's mostly!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 28/09/2019 20:38

(ps... Barbie's are preferred doll. They also like Lego, Playmobil, and outdoor stuff. And endless craft)

SummersMumma · 28/09/2019 21:40

@aroundtheworldin80moves I agree the outfits ate outrageous! X

I'm on the fence on this one because my daughter LOVES LOL's. She saves her pocket money and gets a few at birthday/Christmas, I don't like the pointless wrapping and I'm sure she's be just as happy if they came in a paper bag (we do recycle the hard plastic) but the dolls themselves have been played with daily for 3 and a half years. On the other hand her lego gets played with maybe once every 6 months at a push.

Rubbleonthedouble1 · 02/10/2019 09:23

I agree that LOL are awful but my daughter loves them. She is only four but saves money from grandparents and birthdays to buy them. The outfits are awful and so inappropriate though! Knee high boots and tiny shorts?! Some supermarkets are starting to recycle soft plastics so I may try that with some of the (wildly unnecessary) plastic
Also the YouTube thing is odd!
