To be shocked at 1990s music videos.

I am watching take that relight my fire. It looks 800 years old. The fashions, fair enough. But the quality is so fuzzy and the colours aren't right. Is it because we're used to hd now.......or has the film deteriorated over time. I don't remember them being like that at the time.

I think it’s just progress. Technology moves so fast that it’s not surprising that videos from a quarter of a century ago look weak in comparison.
Imagine how older people from the 60s feel. One minute they’re “swinging” to risqué cutting edge music, the next it’s grainy footage on the history channel with songs controversial at the time now considered nursery rhymes.
Times change and life improves. No point looking back

We had smaller TVs then so maybe we didn’t notice fuzziness?

Moonmelodies · 28/09/2019 17:11

Perhaps they were trying to recreate the magic of the 1970's original by making it look older.

It was fuzzy back in the 90s, it's just that we were used to it and it was the norm.

It's funny what we accept as great quality at the time, but then when something better is produced, we wonder how we coped with the old version.
I remember the vacuum we had in the 90s, it spat out more dust that it sucked up! Then when you changed the bag, all the dust it did inhale, proceeded to burst out of the bag. Grin

Broadcast standards have changed

It's like looking a few generations ago at consoles, graphics we definitely saw at the time as hyper realistic now look like minecraft

LoonyLunaLoo · 28/09/2019 17:18

Have you seen how fake the film Titanic looks now 😂

Paddybare · 28/09/2019 17:20

I remember marvelling at the effects on Jurassic Park at the time. I saw it the other day and was positively underwhelmed!

Talking of tv in the 90s. I've been watching Bruce's Price Is Right, on Challenge TV.
Try guessing the prices of the items? Its really hard, because you have to guess what the price was back in the 80s/90s.

My dad was screaming at the tv, because he kept getting them wrong, and saying "we didnt pay that much for a waitress trolley" Grin

Not surprising, really. It’s 26 years old - 26 years before that was released, this was, and think about how dated that would have seemed in 1993...
