To have emailed Tesco about kind delivery driver?

I just got my shopping delivered by a lovely, kind delivery driver. Sometimes they can be a bit miserable but this guy was so friendly. I've just emailed tesco to let them know and to pass it on to his manager and give him the recognition he deserves. I really hope they do, and I really hope it makes his day. Was this the right thing to do or was it a bit OTT? I just want good people to feel appreciated.

Of course it’s not unreasonable. We as a society are too quick to complain and don’t usually give praise as quickly as we would make a complaint. I try and report good service as often as poor service.

SpotlessMind · 28/09/2019 13:03

Not at all, I do this when I’ve had really good service, and often the company has replied to thank me for letting them know and to say they will pass on my thanks. Everyone is quick to complain when things don’t go well so I think it’s nice to even it up a bit.

lovemenorca · 28/09/2019 13:04

YANBU

YABU a little to need a pat on the back for doing so

CTRL · 28/09/2019 13:05

I think it’s lovely what you did OP.

Most people only get in touch if they want to complain, not to appraise.

Well done and I hope the delivery driver gets adknowledgement for his hard and kind work

Amys136 · 28/09/2019 13:06

I always pass on if we’ve had good experience. Sometimes it’s acknowledged by the company sometimes it isn’t.

I know what you mean about delivery drivers. Some are proper miserable, others super nice

Toooldtobearsed2 · 28/09/2019 13:06

nope- you did right 😁

Over the past three or four years I have made a conscious effort to thank people, praise excellent service and post glowing reviews, rather than just complain at everything when it goes wrong.
I know someone will be along to say ' but they are just doing their jobs' - well, yes, they are - but we all love the warm glow we get when someone says we are bloody brilliant, so why not pass it on?

I have contacted companies to praise staff and have had lovely responses from them saying how nice it was to be able to pass on thanks, rather than complaints.

Outsomnia · 28/09/2019 13:06

I always do this when the service is friendly, polite and efficient. The company is always delighted with positive feedback.

ultrablue · 28/09/2019 13:09

I work for Tesco, each week the emails received are sent to the various stores and put up on the notice board in recognition of the members of staff.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/09/2019 13:11

I make a point of doing this - people are quick to complain (not always rightly) so it must be a nice change to get a ‘thank you’.

flumposie · 28/09/2019 13:15

I love my Tesco delivery drivers. I've had the same day and slot for over 10 years so know a lot of them now. A lovely thing to do.

Thattwatoverthere · 28/09/2019 13:17

Great thing to do and I wish it happened more. I'm a team manager and loved getting phone calls praising my team. It's common to receive complaints but not so when the service has been good and hopefully his manager will use your review in his appraisal

Yaflamingalah · 28/09/2019 13:23

More people need to praise good service OP. This morning I went into Costa with my youngest DD. We ordered and DD needed the lavatory so the really kind lad behind the counter came over with our order after we came back. I then saw him going around tables to check everyone was ok and didn’t need anything else. He really was going above and beyond the customer service expected in a place such as Costa. I was so impressed I sent a quick message via their app to praise him.

policeandthieves · 28/09/2019 13:24

YABU to post something so obviously not unreasonable just so everyone comments on how lovely and thoughtful you are!

Meadowland · 28/09/2019 13:29

@policeand thieves Don't be cynical.
If everyone said something nice like this instead of finding things to complain , or have a dig, about, the world would be a much nicer place.
@username108 - YANBU, a really good thing to do.

policeandthieves · 28/09/2019 13:41

Meadowland I'm not saying don't do it - I have no issue with people showing appreciation ( see the obviously not unreasonable comment) I'm just saying the reasons for broadcasting what you have done are a bit dubious

OneUsernameOnly · 28/09/2019 13:45

Why would you think you are being unreasonable for telling a company their employee has done a good job?
Genuinely interested why that is.

Tojigornot · 28/09/2019 13:48

I once used a customer feedback website with some positive comments I got an email back apologising for my disappointment and a voucher Confused

lovemenorca · 28/09/2019 13:50

Totally agree with @policeandthieves

hardyloveit · 28/09/2019 13:50

I've started to email or Facebook message the companies where staff have been really good! We are all too quick to complain and it will be nice for the staff and managers to realise their staff are doing their job well!

policeandthieves · 28/09/2019 13:56

@lovemenorca
Grin

NoSauce · 28/09/2019 13:58

It’s a bit needy to post about it here. Absolutely nobody is going to say yabu!

DamnaThatOnesTaken · 28/09/2019 14:00

Of course you're not being unreasonable for giving positive feedback.

LakieLady · 28/09/2019 14:04

I try and give positive feedback where service has been particularly good.

I emailed Argos yesterday, because while I was waiting to be served, a young assistant was being incredibly patient with a man with additional needs who'd bought a phone and thought it wasn't working properly, when it was. There were a lot of people waiting and some of them were getting pissed off and starting to tut and roll their eyes, but I thought it was lovely of her to take the time.

Th1me · 28/09/2019 14:07

My husband is a Tesco delivery driver and always goes out of his way to help and been cheerful. He would be made up with some praise!

Rainbowknickers · 28/09/2019 14:31

I love it when someone takes the time to sent an email praising something I’ve done right
So many people tell me I’ve done good to my face-but my boss doesn’t hear that!
It gives me a boost to see it written down and puts me in the bosses good books
