Okay so NC for this. It's not really aibu but I had to tell someone.

I have an assessment for counselling today & I'm feeling very nervous!!
I've only told DP and BFF. I will tell my mum after the event, so she doesn't worry.

It's in relation to childhood trauma and abuse.
I'm already full of cold and feeling crappy but I've waited 9 months for this.
Someone tell me it's gonna be okay 😩😣

You will be ok. I had counselling for PND after having my DD, I was nervous about it too and it was no where near as bad as I thought. Take a deep breath, you have got this.

I have therapy weekly and still get nervous before every session! But once I'm there it's absolutely fine, don't worry, you've got this 🙂

I've tried counselling before but as soon as I've told them what's happened I clam up then stop going. I've told them this to try make sure it doesn't happen again.

I'm walking there now, feeling sick but determined!

I've been in the same boat OP, and I embarrassingly wept throughout my assessment. I think it was a relief of finally opening up about my childhood abuse after 20 years of trying to cope alone.

I was then fast tracked to receive CBT and it's changed my life. A year later I'm doing incredibly well and I no longer meet the criteria for agoraphobia or C-PTSD.

Best of luck!! Be honest, and be kind to yourself today.

Thank you ❤️❤️

I've just finished now. All set up with a new counsellor and starting on Tuesday at 10am 🎉
I'm glad I've finally started. Initially, they offer 10 sessions to help you cope with what's to come, how to deal with emotions and how to frame things in 'the here and now' then it's 8or so sessions of trauma counselling.
I feel vert lucky to have stumbled upon this charity ❤️

@FactorFifty thank you for the support ❤️

I'm so glad things worked out for you! I've been coping much better since starting sertraline, but still feel like Pandoras box needs to be opened 😣

Eeeee well done! You should be very proud of yourself, it takes incredible strength to reach out for help.

You deserve to be supported, what a great step towards better mental health. Yay! Flowers

@FactorFifty thank you 😭
I'm treating myself with supernoodles and a bar of Cadbury fruit & nut. Emotionally incapable of doing anything else now today, but I did it! ❤️
