To think it's FANTASTIC that the Aldi advert normalises breastfeeding?

Just saw an Aldi advert and the woman was just breastfeeding as they were talking.
No covering up with "nursing covers". No cutting. No acknowledgement. No embrassment

Bloody Brilliant

Breath of fresh air!

Yes, I was thinking exactly that last nigh! Fabulous!

Disfordarkchocolate · 25/09/2019 18:35

I loved it too, nice and relaxed.

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/09/2019 18:38

Haven’t seen it but it sounds great. Sainsbury’s have a breastfeeding woman in their current one too. I thought about it this morning when I fed my baby over a coffee in the pub.

Camomila · 25/09/2019 18:52

I think I saw the sainsburies one, advert for tu? Lady in a frilly yellow top?

I'd love to see someone breastfeed in a soap.

Soubriquet · 25/09/2019 18:54

Yes I loved it

It just looked very casual.

You wouldn’t know they were doing it unless you really looked

massistar · 25/09/2019 18:54

Yes! Saw it last night. Fantastic!

Frezia · 25/09/2019 19:12

Loved it! Also no bottles in the weekly shop comparison.

Frezia · 25/09/2019 19:16

@Camomila It would go a long way, I agree. I caught a bit of Hollyoaks awhile ago, a young woman was pregnant and confiding to another how she didn't feel fit to be a mother, among other things she worried she wouldn't know how to give the baby a bottle. No mention of breastfeeding whatsoever.

AloeVeraLynn · 25/09/2019 19:24

I love it, it's not contrived or obvious. I didn't actually notice she was breastfeeding the first time I watched it.

pooboobsleeprepeat · 25/09/2019 19:28

It’s so nice to see!

Camomila · 25/09/2019 19:30

Oooh actually speaking of Hollyoaks, a lady recently (no idea what her name is, DM is the Hollyoaks lover) handed her baby to a friend to go somewhere and said "I'll be back soon to give him a feed" and I remembered it because it was unusual.

Bobbiepin · 25/09/2019 19:36

Tbh I've seen the advert a bunch and didn't notice it until my mum pointed it out and that's how I think it should be. Someone was feeding their baby and it had nowt to do with me! Great to bring it into the public eye without making a big deal about it.

SunshineCake · 25/09/2019 19:50

Years ago Brookside had a real mum breastfeeding while wearing the same blouse as Susannah to pretend to be her.

Toxicity1984 · 25/09/2019 20:06

Speaking of Hollyoaks, think the woman called Mandy is supposed to be breastfeeding. There has been mention of "being back to give him a feed" and her adjusting her top once supposedly having fed him.

FizzyGreenWater · 25/09/2019 20:16

Camomila I read that as 'I'd love to see someone breastfeed in a soup'

Confused

now that would be a sight worth seeing

baby bobs among the croutons as mum checks latch while heroically treading water

aaaaaargh

Eve · 08/10/2019 20:37

Saw that and thought the same , also Tu have just shown breastfeeding in an advert.

Uniformuniformuniform · 08/10/2019 20:40

Didn't Sienna pretend to breastfeed Darren's baby (as in his wife's baby, not hers) or along those lines a few years ago in Hollyoaks. That was just weird

Uniformuniformuniform · 08/10/2019 20:43

But it was one of her psychotic episodes. The only time I saw breastfeeding in a soap and they did it like that ...

BrutusMcDogface · 08/10/2019 20:45

That woman in eastenders (the one who has since disappeared and abandoned her baby- Hayley is it?) had trouble with breastfeeding but did do it.

CountFosco · 08/10/2019 20:47

Rachel breastfed Emma in Friends back in the 90s. Lots of comedy around it of course. Good to see it being portrayed as completely normal.

domesticslattern · 08/10/2019 20:47

I was pleased to see someone breastfeeding on Gogglebox recently. Normalises the fact that nursing mothers often spend hours and hours watching TV with baby clamped to boob.
Don't think I'd ever seen it on TV before.

YouSirOweMeOneNewHat · 08/10/2019 20:56

@CountFosco Carol breastfed Ben too! Comedy around it again, but so normalised.
