To want MN to stop deleting threads

IfIKnewThenWhatIKnowNow · 25/09/2019 18:06

I was happily reading about someone enjoying sex with a teacher in a disabled toilet, during parents evening no less and poof goes the thread!

Aibu to want to see it play out and to want to know if Henry the Hoover did indeed gossip about another poster who had sex with Ryan Gosling in the broom closet at work??

All the good posts get deleted :’(

I think I missed some good ones. Grin

Drogosnextwife · 25/09/2019 18:14

I love a good troll thread, gets annoying when they get deleted all the time. I agree OP. Perhaps we should start a petition!

TuttiFrutti123 · 25/09/2019 18:21

YANBU.I was thoroughly enjoying all the spooky comments on the 'spirit' one this morning when suddenly it got zapped.
Some of the stories were brilliant, especially the poster who "had a bad experience with a spirit one night and hasn't touched Jack Daniels since". Thanks for the laughs earlier Grin

@Drogosnextwife let’s do it!
MN needs to understand that I NEED to know whether I have to shave my legs for the next parents evening and whether Henry can indeed be trusted!
@ThatssomebadhatHarry you did 😂

@TuttiFrutti123 I missed that one! Oh my days.. no more spirits 😂😂😂

YANBU but a thread is not a "troll" just because it's not true (eg the teacher sex one which was obviously fairy story) - that definition seems to be unique to MN.

ItsWitchingTime · 25/09/2019 18:35

I do think there should be a section for some of the troll threads.

Jojobythesea · 25/09/2019 18:37

I agree. There's been about four in the last week I've been scrolling along enjoying and then they disappear. Really annoying. It should be that if you use the site and are aware of trolls, triggers etc and use with caution. We are all adults.

IfIKnewThenWhatIKnowNow · 25/09/2019 18:47

Exactly, a little note from MNHQ saying this is a potentially provocative thread would do it! Agreed that we are all adults and can decide if we want to read it or not.

It’s nice to have a fanciful thread in between all the serious ones.

Come on mumnset.. you know you want to keep them really :D

I love the poo troll BlushBlush

TuttiFrutti123 · 25/09/2019 18:58

A block on the comments after the Mumsnet update message and then a press here to continue reading button option would be great and then when you get to the end of the thread it could go from the screen. (Probably loads of hassle to do though)

AnneKipanki · 25/09/2019 19:01

It does get a bit disappointing sometimes when you all should know it is a bit of fun and most people join in the fun .

Also the OBVIOUSLY LEWD title might suggest something distasteful sooo do NOT read it if you are going to be offended. ( Penis breath and beaker spring to mind , fortunately not deleted )

There has been a spate of thread deletions lately. I did start a thread about that . It is not deleted BTW .

painauchocolat84 · 25/09/2019 19:32

I think they should either let posters delete, or don’t delete any (except trolls). The way they do it at the moment is unfair and annoying.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 25/09/2019 19:37

I hate it when the OP has a strop so they delete. Either down to it being 'to revealing' or some other Bs.

On the Baby centre US some of the boards copy and paste the OPs original post so they can't dirty delete. And then if they look like they're about to flounce they C&P Allllll their posts so that the drama can live on.

Bouffalant · 25/09/2019 19:41

What happened to Poppy? She hasn't appeared for a few days.

IfIKnewThenWhatIKnowNow · 25/09/2019 19:44

And another thread bites the dust! (Are school a bit racist for giving DD dention). It really is annoying!

I like that idea @contraceprionismyfriend
If you post it, own it!

Agreed! I think we are all more than capable of deciding whether to read a thread or not. Especially if it has a lewd title or MN warning. Constantly deleting these threads and having a vague message from MN pop up is just over monitoring imho - we are grown adults after all!
