If you have chartwell green windows...

... What colour is your door?

I posted this is property but got no response so sorry for taking up AIBU.

I think a chartwell green door might be too matchy matchy but I don't want to totally clash with a red one of something...

Help. I have no imagination to picture what I need.

In a previous house I had a chartwell green door, but white windows because they were done at different times. However, having spent a fair bit looking at other houses then, I think having windows and doors in chartwell green looks good.

NewtonPulsifer · 25/09/2019 00:08

I have seen them the same colours and it works well. Otherwise I would be tempted with a charcoal/dark grey door

Thankgoodness1 · 25/09/2019 00:18

What colour is the rest of your house and what style is it?

Cuppa12345 · 25/09/2019 14:22

Here is part of my house. Husband thinks we should chartwell green windows and door frame but an olive green door....

Hi sorry for the late reply. Have a look and tell me if you like this (ok zero points for photoshop but just to give you an idea).

@Thankgoodness1 - I think that looks really good, if this is what the doors and windows will look like, I’m voting for this! @Cuppa12345

Cuppa12345 · 26/09/2019 22:33

OK, that looks great, love it. My husband doesn't like the grey door though annoyingly, as I think it looks great. He likes olive. I'll see if I can find a photo and if i can, could you try it out on photoshop? Sorry, don't know if that's massively tone consuming so obviously don't worry if that's a big job. I feel happy about the cwg frame now though! Brilliant creativity! Thanks

This colour is olive but not sure it'll go with the frames. Difficult because the colours vary in photos obviously!

Have you chosen a Windows company?

Thankgoodness1 · 26/09/2019 23:12

I’m sorry but Olive green clashes Sad

Yes, it does, doesn't it. Unfortunately got up this morning and the husband has told the company we want olive and cwg frame so guess that's what we will have to live with now 🙄 I agree the grey looks much better though.

I think the brown you already have looks the best!

Lottie2shoes · 27/09/2019 09:40

Thankgoodness1 please can you tell me how did you do that? Would be good to know for future reference when I'm doing my house up.

I tried to look for ways to do them last time but all i came up with was not very accurate free ones or premium ones where i had to pay

Floralnomad · 27/09/2019 09:47

I’d be very wary as other greens do clash with the Chartwell , my dsis has a chartwell door and garage door and in between ( odd house ) has another door access to her garage that is currently painted a different olive type green ( needs painting but the chartwell doors are both new fixtures) and it stands out like a sore thumb . I’d go for green door and white frames .

Thankgoodness1 · 27/09/2019 09:55

It’s not too late to call the window company!
Please don’t make an expensive mistake!!!

Here is your colour chart

The app I used was called Enlight but they don’t have it in the App Store anymore. The nearest one (it’s prob loads better now anyways) is called Enlight Photo Editor.

Thankgoodness1 · 27/09/2019 10:03

Blend Editor might do the same thing too.

I know, I know, but my husband says I'm too controlling and I need to let him make some decisions in our house and he is set on this so I'm just going to let it go tbh. If we both absolutely hate it, then in a few years time, perhaps we will shell out for another door.

I agree with the white frames, the world would be our oyster with door colour but again the husband says white upvc looks cheap and nasty and won't be slayed.

I've actually warmed to the brown recently after going through this process. My choice now, would be to go for a lighter, more realistic wood effect (these windows were put in in the 70s and I think it shows!). Now you can get some really impressive wood effect ones I think. Obviously, goes without saying, the other half doesn't agree.

Oh well. I'll let him have this battle and then I can choose another battle to win!

Fair enough, as long as you’re ok with it!
Will you post up a pic when it’s all done?
I am intrigued and you might even start a trend! Smile

PiggyPokkyFool · 27/09/2019 10:37

Dear @Cuppa12345 I'm glad your husband won't be slayed - would be a very extreme reaction to not liking his window choices.

Cuppa12345 · 27/09/2019 10:51

🤣 I'll see what it looks like before I consider a slaying...

Cuppa12345 · 27/09/2019 10:53

I'll post a pic when it's done. We are booked in for 6 weeks time. I'll be 40 weeks pregnant in 9 weeks time so if you could all cross any appendages that I don't go into labour at 37 weeks (having a home birth) when the window company are here, I'd really appreciate it 👍

PiggyPokkyFool that made me lool. Was wondering whether anyone else noticed the slay vs swayGrin

Lottie2shoes · 27/09/2019 22:29

Thankgoodness1 thanks for that. I'll check it out
