To find budgeting HARD

Trying to do my budget planning for the next few months. My bank account has money hitting it at all different times of the month and direct debits that can't be moved date wise. Is there an account where you can assign pots for your bills and hold each set of money there??

Try Monzo - I know they’re looking at features to pay bills directly from pots but until then you can use the in-app budgeting tool which will allow you to set budget limits and will update with how much you’ve got left to spend based on scheduled payments I.e Direct Debits.

Ive managed to open a Bill pot with Halifax (up to five savings accounts) but I just can't see where the simple and logic way is to ensure that I always save e.g. £40 from the Wednesday before the 1st of the month, because that isn't going to fall in line with every fourth Wednesday.

So o try and explain further, I get money each Wednesday but pay out based on the date rather than the number of weeks between payments. It's making my head hurt!!

I think first of all you need to check that your monthly outgoings and income do at least balance - then, I would work on a couple of really low spend months so that you have at least your monthly outgoings sat in your current account as a buffer. Then you won't need to worry so much.

Have you had a look at you need a budget? You do have to pay for it after a months trial but I am finding it great so far got managing money. You basically set up pots for all sledding and allocate money to the pots whenever you receive some income. I get paid monthly but it's meant to be good for people who are paid at frequencies differently to monthly.

Check out You Need A Budget which has changed our lives (no exaggeration) - you plan where every pound goes by putting it into pots rather than just retrospectively seeing where it goes.

Best of all I can have money spread across accounts (so £2500 in the nationwide 5% account), money in ISAs, current account etc but can have pots for things regardless of where I’m keeping the bulk of my money. Truly, it’s amazing!

PS the trial requires NO credit card details so is really free, not one of those ones that counts on you forgetting then charges you.
