Boris Johnson should resign

He's lied to the Queen and shut down parliament illegally. He's not fit to be PM and should resign now.

OP posts:
Dongdingdong · 26/09/2019 07:10

He had a majority of one, FFS. With many pro-Remain Tory MPs prepared to vote against him. How is that a working majority in any shape or form?

MustardScreams · 26/09/2019 07:14

BoZo is a lying, sneaky, evil man. To have an election now with no guarantee that he won’t delay the election date until after no deal Brexit would be ridiculous.

I’m not sure why people don’t understand that? Only idiots want an election now. And Tories. But they’re one in the same.

Kit19 · 26/09/2019 07:18

General election won’t solve anything though . Polls indicate that although the conservatives will be the largest party, they won’t have a majority so we’re back to where we started

The only way to get anything through is compromise & cross party working & instead Johnson & co have doubled down and widened the breach even further.

It’s an absolute clusterfuck

Maybe we need to get in a government of national unity and then postpone Brexit, sort out the mess, referendum and then GE
^ this

To have an election now with no guarantee that he won’t delay the election date until after no deal Brexit would be ridiculous.

So Boris delays Brexit, has an election, wins a comfortable majority, sits back and we leave the EU with no deal on November 30th. Corbyn is simply delaying the inevitable and the sooner he’s kicked out and replaced with a pro-remain leader, the better.

MustardScreams · 26/09/2019 07:25

The best thing to do now is have a 2nd ref to decide how the public wants to leave. An election isn’t going to solve anything.

ZenNudist · 26/09/2019 07:26

Im fed up of hearing how Brexiteers think at least hes trying to do something to acheive Brexit.

He mostly voted against the WA so had the opportunity to get Brexit through but he was too busy playing politics then. So he was part of the problem stymied Brexit but now he's saving the people from evil parliament? The lying bastard. Why are people buying it?

Dongdingdong · 26/09/2019 07:27

He. Had. A. Majority

And he reduced that.

Outrage
Deflect
Double Down
And repeat

Are you a bot? Confused

Chatt3rb0x · 26/09/2019 07:29

Boris is surely trying to win over Farage’s supporters who will lap it up and give him a maj in an election. Could the Lib Dem’s do a deal with greens and if so could they win?

Dongdingdong · 26/09/2019 07:33

Why are people buying it?

I get the sense that a lot of people are sick to the back teeth of Brexit and just want to get it done now. They’re fed up with the endless back and forth and subsequent stalemate. People like the fact that Boris is at least prepared to “rip the plaster off” so to speak, rather than seeking yet more delays and flip-flopping. That’s just my take on it anyway.

Dongdingdong · 26/09/2019 07:35

Could the Lib Dem’s do a deal with greens and if so could they win?

I highly doubt it. Under a different pro-remain leader I think Labour could almost certainly win, but obviously that’s not an option right now thanks to Corbyn.

Iggly · 26/09/2019 07:36

So Boris delays Brexit

OR, he could focus on Brexit as he claims to want to do. Get it done, then call an election 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why is he trying to delay Brexit?

How much money dissappears into the eu abyss of corruption

What’s that got to do with hedge funds making millions off the backs of the rest of us?

As it is, I think the EU failed when it forced austerity down the throats of so many.

But do I think we should have a hard no deal Brexit at all costs? No I fucking don’t.

Dongdingdong · 26/09/2019 07:42

Why is he trying to delay Brexit?

Eh? If Boris had his way we’d be out on October 31st with or without a deal. Even with the wildest stretch of the imagination, I’m not sure how anyone can claim that Boris is the one wanting to delay Brexit here Confused

jewel1968 · 26/09/2019 07:45

The country is very divided and the fence sitting as described is an act to try and bring the country together.

There should never have been a referendum but there was and a slight majority won. Revoking article 50 would be a devastating blow for those who voted leave and even if well intentioned would be undemocratic. On the other hand with such a slim majority how on earth can those voting remain think such a major upheaval be decided on a simple referendum.

My worry is whatever is done there will be major unrest in the country and possibly violence. So for me the nuanced approach from Labour is what is needed but it needs to be communicated much better. I think labour MPs should be allowed to campaign with their conscience.

I have friends who voted leave and remain and both sides seem to be rigid in their thinking with little desire to see the other side. It has become very simple for them and they get more and more agitated and strident as the days go by. No attempt to see the other side. I know one couple so divided. It is very sad and probably why the nuanced picture from Labour won't work but I understand why they are trying this approach.

LadyWithLapdog · 26/09/2019 07:50

Johnson last night in Parliament was a bully, absolutely sickening behaviour. This cannot be normalised. If anyone in a position of power behaved like that towards you or your child you’d call it out. Don’t diminish this.

Iggly · 26/09/2019 07:51

Then you’re incredibly naive.

He’s trying to goad the opposition into a general election before the 31 October. He keeps on saying that.

Why not just focus on Brexit? Why is he not negotiating properly? Flying off to America when he should be in Europe?

Look at his actions, not his words.

So you’re saying that Boris wants an election before October 31st because he doesn’t want to be PM anymore and if the Tories are kicked out, then we’re more likely to remain? Confused

Dongdingdong · 26/09/2019 08:03

Thanks for proving the mantra

I’ve got to hand it to you - the irony in your posts (though clearly unintentional) is brilliant Grin

MarshaBradyo · 26/09/2019 08:03

Corbyn is doing as he should why would you trust a word BJ says. The paralysis is not on him.

I don’t think he should resign though just do what you say you can - get the deal

MustardScreams · 26/09/2019 08:03

He wants to call an election before the 31st, so he can set the election date for sometime in November, once we left the EU with no deal.

The opposition are trying to prevent this.

Iggly · 26/09/2019 08:04

I know it’s not much but I’m going to be writing to the prime minister to say I found his performance disgusting. Humbug as a response to women who are receiving threats?? Use of inflammatory language to wind people up?

It’s just disgraceful.

If he wanted to get Brexit done, he should have focussed the mind on getting a deal.

He also needs to respect Ireland as a separate country and understand we have a hard border with it and we cannot solely dictate how that border works. We aren’t the British Empire despite what his privileged education may have told him.
