Gumtree- Is this really bad etiquette?

I bought a small job lot of toys from Gumtree today. They were priced OK and the lady delivered them (I did offer to pay her petrol but she declined). I've looked over the toys and they aren't what I thought they were so I don't want them. Not her fault.

I've sorted them into actual sets/types and will sell the rest on. Thing is, now I've sorted them, I can probably get more than I paid, especially if I list them well with good photos.

Will the gumtree karma gods smite me if I sell it on for more than I paid?

Personally I'm not bothered if people buy something off me and then sell it on at a profit (as long as they don't make up sob stories) but I know some people hate it.

It's fine. You paid her asking price, it's not like you did a sob story and got them for free.

Splenny · 22/09/2019 23:20

It’s not something I would do but I don’t care what people do with stuff once I’ve sold it.

flyingspaghettimonster · 22/09/2019 23:22

Can you sell on facebook market place instead?

NewElthamMum13 · 22/09/2019 23:24

Why on earth would anybody mind that? You've added value by sorting and organising them so that other people can get what they actually want, not take a shot in the dark as you did.

Anyone who moans about this is totally BU.

BishBashBoshy · 22/09/2019 23:24

@flyingspaghettimonster Did that once. Never again! Haha!

You paid the asking price, so it's up to you what you do with them now. She could probably have got more herself if she'd sold on EBay or whatever, but chose not to or couldn't be bothered. If you can be bothered, that's fine, don't overthink it.

22Giraffes · 22/09/2019 23:25

You bought them at the asking price, they are now yours to do what you like with. I have been annoyed in the past when people I have given stuff too (for free) have them sold it on to make a profit, but this is not the case here!

BackforGood · 22/09/2019 23:27

I agree with Splenny.
I'd say differently if you'd got them from Freecycle.

People resell all the time. Do it.
