Twitter Block Gate: Offence or Hysteria?

I'm going to break it down quickly for you ladies. I have a work colleague who I did not enjoy. They were lazy, disruptive, clearly thought they were too good for it all, and made life as difficult as possible for the rest of us. Lately she was fired and or quit depending on who you are talking to about it.

My interactions with this person became more and more distant as time went on. I was never openly hostile but eventually I was just over it. Kept my distance, let them get on with it and did my best to undo the chaos she created. (For example it once took me four days to undo one hours worth of "work" she did.)

Anyway, the final week with us and she really upset another colleague whom I adore. I mean tears for days. Days. And I just said fuck it. I'm done with this person. They're leaving. I'm out. So I blocked her on Twitter.

Apparently on her last day, she went to my bosses BOSS and told her that I am not to be trusted. That she should watch her back around me. That I am a snake. For blocking her on Twitter!!! And make no mistake, this was her sole reason. Why do I know all this? Another colleague over heard it and came running to tell me.

Wtf does one do with this please??? I'm baffled that such an action has caused so much offence. I'm baffled that my friend came running to tell me something that could upset me the way this has. Am I a sneaky snake????

Help a sister out here guys!!

Btw I work in this company for eight years and she lasted about six months.

Who cares she doesn’t work there any more.

ghostyslovesheets · 22/09/2019 22:05

all sounds so very very dramatic - just forget it sister Hmm

SallyLovesCheese · 22/09/2019 22:08

Did your boss say anything about it? If not, just ignore. It's not worth the drama.

Sparklesocks · 22/09/2019 22:15

She’s left, and it’s not directly work related, so I doubt they care at all. Don’t let it get to you.

Gazelda · 22/09/2019 22:22

She's gone. It's over. Don't dwell on it.
Continue to prove your worth to your employer.

Help a sister out here guys!!

Hmm

What ‘help’ do you need here?

AussieBeauty · 22/09/2019 22:23

Wait you didn't break it down enough for this lady..I don't get it.

You've written about a rather mundane event in a very dramatic way so I think it may be possible you've over reacted to this slightly. I recommend doing nothing about it at all. You presumably haven't broken any company code of conduct by blocking an ex colleague on Twitter so I doubt your boss's BOSS would give the shiniest of shits.

BanKittenHeels · 22/09/2019 22:38

Hey sister!
Can you tell mum I left the shopping in the porch? Cheers!

itswinetime · 22/09/2019 22:45

Why has it upset you?

You don't have a high opinion of her (justifies it seems) you don't want to be friends with her and you don't want contact out of work. You removed her from you social media, you didn't call her out or insult her so the company aren't going to give a shit! In fact your boss is probably a) following suit and b) laughing away at how silly she sounds! Your friend told you because a) friends warn other friends and b) she maybe thought you would find it funny!

It's the work equivalent of running to the teacher saying op won't play with me! Who does that make look bad because it isn't you!

I doubt you boss will even bring it up! You don't do anything there is nothing to do! You go on with your life and think twice about adding colleges you aren't friends with to your social media in future!

EmmiJay · 22/09/2019 23:04

Oh I do miss office drama like this. So nostalgic.

Anyway, she's on the way to the job centre tomorrow and you're on your way to work. I think your winning.

And to everyone stuck on the use of 'sister', unclench Grin

Angelf1sh · 23/09/2019 07:41

What does one do with that? Absolutely nothing. It’s a total non-event. Hope that helps.
