Just that really.

Obviously I hope all those currently abroad and already booked are brought home quickly and / or compensated but what’s the point in them carrying on

So sorry Martha and everyone else affected by this. It’s truly shit, having lived through it with monarch 3 times.
The support you will get from the rest of the travel industry is heart warming, in fact from everyone.
I really hoped they’d be rescued

slapadabass he is panicking, he should be home on Thursday, going in hospital the next week for a big op where he could potentially lose his leg, he has been waiting for this op for over a year. They are all inclusive & up to tonight haven't had their wristbands taken off them yet.

We’ve booked AI with Thomas Cook repeatedly over the last few years and it’s always been brilliant. Staff were great. My heart goes out to them all.

@MrsMaiselsMuff paying on departure is not standard. Tour operators like TC have contracts based on volume with hotels. They get rates that are often a lot lower than the hotels publicised rates, 15 - 45 % lower than what you or I would be offered. Depending on the tour operators credit history, hotels often want the rooms paid on booking and not departure.

Telegraph are reporting potential knock on impacts for some travel agents as EU rule means that booking separate TC flights and hotel through an agent may count as a package and the agent may end up having to pick up the compensation costs.

That's always been the case if you book your flight and accommodation as individual components through eg Travel Republic you are ATOL Protected. Someone up thread is in that poshness was assured they are covered.
