New boss sucked in by office tittle tattle

I need to keep this vague sorry.

So our new boss seems totally sucked in by someone who very much has their own agenda and will joyfully slate those around them to make themselves look better.

I overheard a conversation where this person, alongside another were running down other members of the management team to the boss. Again so they came out of it looking like the super efficient saviour. The new boss did not question and seemed to agree.

My loyalty is firmly with those who were being slagged off and I feel this is something that could escalate however I have raised person am.issues about this person before so i may be deemed as biased and also if i give them the heads up I'm guilty of tittle tattle myself.

It is making me very anxious

Honestly until it affects you directly stay right out of it. Even if it does escalate it's not your place to become involved. Give the gossips enough rope to hang themselves.

You're in for a rough time.

DH has just been through a similar period, lasting years. The best advice he was given was 'just keep doing your job, doing the right thing, acting with the best interests of the company at heart, and eventually they're going to slip up and show their true colours to the wrong people.'

And that is what has happened.

So it is only the person you've complained about before that you don't like talking to the new manager OP, or is there anyone else? Because this does come across as bias. You have no idea what the manager thought of the conversation! Keeping out of it really is the best plan (and what would you say otherwise - I was earwigging your conversation?!)

I agree with the advice to stay out of it. You'll only risk getting sucked in yourself, against your will, if you intervene. If the new boss has any sense, she'll see this says more about those gossiping than those gossiped about. If the new boss doesn't have any sense, you'll be on a hiding to nothing anyway.

Thanks. That echoes my thoughts tbh not sure if new boss has enough savvie to see this person as player.

I am biased also as this person makes me uncomfortable so i must jeep out of it. I can see her causing a lot of damage
