TAAT so will be deleted quickly I'm sure but it's so annoying how fast MNHQ are to delete whole threads. Why not just delete the offending comment?

Badhaircut - please make a new thread to keep us updated! There was a lot of us routing for you & following what happens next.

Did the OP ask for it to be deleted?

HaveeeeYouMetTed · 21/09/2019 14:17

No. It was deleted it with this message.

Totally agree. One or two posts could have been removed there and posters told why, but no - just rip down six pages of contribution from everyone. Totally unnecessary. I think it's fair to say that we'd all like to know how she gets on and the vast majority of what she put there was very restrained and reasonable in the circumstances... YANBU.

NoSauce · 21/09/2019 14:23

I don’t blame MNHQ for deleting it then.

Badhaircut · 21/09/2019 14:23

Am I allowed to make a new one? I've never had a thread deleted before, I was worried 😂

HaveeeeYouMetTed · 21/09/2019 14:24

I can't see why not Badhaircut. Just don't mention the salon - we all know who they are now anyway Wink but please keep us updated!

Why? ONE poster who wasn't even the OP suggesting fake reviews, among six whole pages of sensible discussion. Clearly that post needing removing, but destroying the whole thread was grossly out of proportion.

Fake reviews/Social media lynching by people who haven't been there are really not on.
But I hope the OP gets it sorted for herself and her friend.

Absolutely. Again though - that's one post from six whole pages. Hardly representative of the thread really, is it?

PurpleDaisies · 21/09/2019 16:19

Odd decision not to just delete the rogue posts.

The moderation is generally odd these days though.

True, did anyone know how many fake reviews were actually left? If any?

Funghi · 21/09/2019 16:35

Hope you got it sorted, Badhaircut.

I’d definitely like an update thread.

I imagine the salon contacted MN otherwise it would have just been the relevant posts deleted not the thread.

PurpleDaisies · 21/09/2019 16:37

No, mn would have contacted the op. That happened to me a while ago. It was my choice about whether to withdraw what I’d posted. I didn’t-it was my honest personal opinion so had nothing to fear from libel laws.

Cheeserton · 21/09/2019 16:55

I checked their Facebook site, yelp and some others and saw none. I only saw the OP's aunt's factual and fairly restrained reviews, nothing subsequent. Given how appalling the cuts were I really think that they were generally being quite restrained.

HaveeeeYouMetTed · 21/09/2019 19:59

Exactly what @Cheeserton said. The latest review I've seen is the aunt. So no fake reviews from what I can see.

@Badhaircut

Any update OP?

Badhaircut · 21/09/2019 21:08

I did make a thread, but no one seems to be seeing it for some reason.

There's not much more to tell from earlier. I gave them a deadline of today, but I haven't heard anything from them.

My plan is to email some local papers in the morning and also to report them to trading standards. He said he has taken responsibility by offering the refund - still no apology. He wasn't there when we went to collect it and I don't think he has any intention at all of giving it. He just wanted us to delete our reviews.

My nan has had her hair fixed at a salon. The hairdresser has recorded all the issues so we plan on using that too. I haven't had mine fixed yet.

Thank you everyone for your help, I will be following it as much as possible and hopefully make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else at the salon.

Cheeserton · 22/09/2019 12:56

Good that you'll have evidence from the other hairdresser now. Your plan so far seems great. Don't hesitate to lodge a small claims court claim against them either though if they don't cough up.
