Sapiosexual - AIBU to think this is bisexual by another name?

Apparently the new thing is sapiosexual - to be attracted to intelligence before gender. Surely that is just bisexual - why does it need another name?

@verticality you shouldn’t be embarrassed about it. Obviously you don’t have to tell anyone, but even internally you should be embarrassed, you’re allowed to have a type.

The thing I don't like about the labels is that they come over as a narcissistic personal claim to minority status. "Oh look at me, I'm a member of this little-recognised sexual group who are struggling for recognition". It's really silly, and undermining to those fighting for genuine and collective rights on behalf of LGBTQ groups whohave suffered significant persecution over the years. Just because you get turned on by the sight of a toaster does not make you part of a persecuted and misunderstood minority with a long history of discrimination FFS!

I also have little time for those sexual subgroups of people who insist that they have a monopoly on transgression. E.g. "We are the authentic kind of sub/dom partnership; others are either impossibly vanilla or do not count in some other minor way". Grow the fuck up and stop trying to police everything!!!

So do you need to find a compatible label then? That must make dating interesting.
