Am I being ungrateful?

My DB and SIL went on holiday for 10 days - main capital city and loads of trips from there.

I bought DS's favorite t-shirt (which is now too small for him) in that city so I asked them if they could try to buy him the same/similar.
They do not love shopping so I was extremely thankful when they said they had bought it.

Now, DS is 7yo. Quite tall for his age, but skinny.
The t-shirt is 33in across!

I know IABU, but how did this happen?!

PS - just before someone mentions it - no, I am not making a problem of this, will not say anything to them except thanks, and yes, I have loads of more important things to worry about Grin

well, did they buy an age 7-8 and it is massive, or did they buy an adult small as no kids sizes available or....

MutedUser · 18/09/2019 12:39

Do they have children?

IamAporcupine · 18/09/2019 12:43

@MutedUser - he has, but they are adults now

@steppemum - they must have bought an adult one

Be grateful they made the effort especially as they don't like shopping. It's pretty irritating when you go away and everyone wants you to 'just' pick them up this and that.

ShippingNews · 18/09/2019 13:22

Maybe it had Size 8 on the tag and they thought it was for an 8 yr old ? But it was an adults size 8 ? Just a thought.

dollydaydream114 · 18/09/2019 13:38

I imagine it was folded up when they bought it and probably on a shelf marked ‘Small’ and they thought it was a kids’ one. Or they asked the shop to get them the right size and the language barrier got in the way and they got given a small adult shirt instead of a kids’ one.

Simple mistake. Move on.

Anyone who asked me to go shopping for them on MY holiday would get a big fat “fuck right off!”. It’s one of those things I think is so rude.

aren't you a dream Hmm

IamAporcupine · 18/09/2019 14:07

@ShippingNews - that's a good explanation.
Although I've just talked to SIL and she said that 'DB remembered DS bigger'!

@justheretostalk - you sound nice. If anyone asked me to go shopping for them on my holiday they would get a - 'OK, I will try'. Wink

Isn't this good, he can wear it for much longer than if they'd just got his correct sizing now?

IamAporcupine · 18/09/2019 14:13

@DontBuyANewMumCashmere - yes, hopefully!
although I do think it will be waaaay too big for now

Anyway. I've moved on as PP suggested Wink

I am totally at a loss with your attitude, instead of being grateful you are acting like an entitled princess
Go online and buy the t shirt and stop wasting your DB and SIL holiday time.

IamAporcupine · 18/09/2019 14:39

@Cheeseandwin5 - I said I am extremely thankful, I truly am!
I just could not understand how they managed to buy something so big!
That's all.
I am laughing about it, just as they are!
