I do not want one fitted!!! Why on earth am I being bombarded with letters and calls trying to book my appointment to have one?

I don't see the benefit to it and would appreciate if someone can prove me wrong as to why they're so great Confused

Theortically an extra charge coudl be made for power use at peak times - there are no plans yet for this

There certainly are plans for this, written by Ofgem!

I'll see if I can dig out the new links to them in a minute (the URLs in my old thread no longer go directly).

3. We had a lot of issues with some power companies switching people from credit (billing) meters to pay as you go if they got into difficulties - bypassing industry agreed timeframe and processes, agaisnt the law and Ofgen Guidelines.

Thanks for reporting instances of this, Souwest. It's exactly what I predicted in 2011 would happen.

They've just called me AGAIN! This is utterly ridiculous?!!

@Tianc you are starting sound unhinged. I cant even address everything you have put here that is actually clear fabrication.

Like your assertion that a telecoms engineer was applied the energy company's were piggy backing mobile networks. He should have be applied the mobile companies said they could do it.

I have pre payment meters through choice.

My Bill's are lower and have been for a while. I have also worked on smart metering projects for energy companies and the energy Ombudsman.

Also, if a customer, pre pay or billing customer call and say their electric is off and the problem is with their meter, even if it's just because they cant afford to top it up, the energy companies have a responsibility to go out and put them back on. Smaller cheaper companies are not as a efficient as this due to lack of engineers. Hence OVO buying a larger company out. Mainly for their engineers.

Cheaper rates for off peak use has been around for donkeys years.

My personal opinion, is that if you want to blame someone, blame the government. I can assure you the energy companies were not happy back in 2009/10 & 11 at having to pile millions of pounds into this.

And even not less unhappy that they piled extra money in and deadline is being relaxed.
