Okay, I'm not sure if I'm being super judgemental, but here goes.

I live in a village, where most people know the other etc. Just waiting at the bus stop and a man is walking towards me with his hood up covering most of face (hes also quite dirty in appearance) cant say I've ever seen this man before.
He's staring at me and I feel abit uneasy and notice that hes clutching a burberry style purse in his hands. I appreciate I'm clutching at straws here and more than likely its nothing.. But would you report this? He didnt look right, very suspicious

And what will you say? There’s a dirty man looking at me in the street? Hmm

Posey67 · 17/09/2019 10:30

No, he was carrying a designer style bag and he looked shifty. It looked like a mugging/theft. However, it could also be nothing

No, I don’t think you can really call 101 because someone dirty is looking at you and holding a purse.

Posey67 · 17/09/2019 10:32

Of course not, that's why I asked here first. It looked dodgy, he gave me an uneasy feeling. Like I said, could have been absolutely nothing also

Really don't bother 101 with this please.

PumpkinP · 17/09/2019 10:32

Nope

Posey67 · 17/09/2019 10:35

If you lived where I live you'd have called 101 multiple times already today Grin

I'm looking out my window right now and watching a man with no shoes on staggering around next to my car.

MinxyMoos · 17/09/2019 11:58

I'd trust your gut. That's why its 101 not 999. Even if police dont come out, it will be recorded as a sighting in area if it does turn out to be suspicious. I'd call.

usarae · 17/09/2019 12:00

A close family member is a police officer and he would say always phone 101. You aren't bothering them. It's non-urgent so it's not as if they'll be sending someone out with blue lights but if a car is available they'll check it out. Maybe it was a theft. What if your purse was stolen and someone had information that might possibly help in the investigation of the crime? Wouldn't you want that person to call? That's their job - just give them a call. It won't do any harm.

KellyHall · 17/09/2019 13:19

Call them and let them decide.

Idea86 · 17/09/2019 14:41

If you go on your local force's website, they have a 101 reporting box.
I've done that before when a car was sat outside for 6 weeks without tax.
I've also messaged a police force, as someone [a stranger 200 miles away] implied this was their last goodbye on social media.
Use your judgement.

Senseofself1 · 17/09/2019 14:43

If you want to waste 45 minutes on hold, go ahead!

seaweedandmarchingbands · 17/09/2019 14:56

I can’t cope. 😂😂😂

Hedgehogblues · 17/09/2019 16:10

...amazing

MamatoAnK · 17/09/2019 16:22

Yes call them, has nobody else on here seen the posters of if you see anything suspicious at all to report it!? Call 101 and tell them, he may not be upto anything bad but might need help....who knows. If it's suspicious, report it! Too many people keep quiet and so many things happen that could be helped had someone said something

Like on the Tube? They’re talking about rucksacks with wires dangling out of the back, not people with hoods and purses. 😂

MamatoAnK · 27/09/2019 14:13

I've never actually been on the tube, I live in a very rural area and the closest train station is 10 miles away. Supermarkets and public loos are mostly where i see them.
