To wonder if there is anywhere not covered by a WhatsApp group...(kind of lighthearted)

So I am in WhatsApp groups for the following:
DD class in primary
DS old class in primary plus new school plus new secondary school class (3 groups)
DS football team & also parents group
DD dance class and swimming class
DD class mums
DS class mums
And it goes on and on and on... and does t include friends and family groups 🤪

I turned on my phone earlier and had messages in 9 different groups.

Aibu to think that maybe it’s all got a bit out of hand...

Do we really need all this bloody groups 😩

I know what you mean! Feel so hassled by them. Would be lovely to delete the bloody app but impossible.

FairyDust92 · 16/09/2019 22:04

YANBU I took myself out of my family one as it was going off all the time! They then bloody added me back. THERE IS NO ESCAPE 😂

Helpmedecide123 · 16/09/2019 22:21

I feel your pain. DS has been in reception class for 3 days. In the past two hours alone there have been over 40 messages in the new group. None of which were even remotely interesting.

TokyoSushi · 16/09/2019 22:22

I currently have 14 active groups, I need to employ somebody to manage my bloody phone!!

swampytiggaa · 16/09/2019 22:23

I’m not in any 🙂 thank god they weren’t a thing when my kids started school! Youngest has just started secondary 😁

ChanklyBore · 16/09/2019 22:25

I don’t have WhatsApp so my whole life is not covered by a WhatsApp group.

TwattingDog · 16/09/2019 22:28

@FairyDust92 Just mute the conversation for a year, and turn off notifications from that conversation.

Loftyswops988 · 16/09/2019 22:30

yanbu.

i've just started muting notifications on the ones that aren't as imminent though and it makes things easier

sheshootssheimplores · 16/09/2019 22:32

Oh no I couldn’t cope with that. I’ve had to mute a few that I’m part of as I just can’t deal with it.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 16/09/2019 22:57

I’m only in one group with dh and the dc which is mostly ds1 sending memes all day.
I hate WhatsApp groups any I have previously been added to for party or event type things I mute immediately and my phone is not exactly quiet anyway.

Thegreymethod · 16/09/2019 23:03

I have 4 children in school and we've never had a class/school what's app group! Our school are strange though and even mentioning them on social media you get invited in and asked to remove it! We had one for the PTA once and the head shut it down after 2 days just in case it got out of control!! 🙄 I would say leave the groups but I'm too nosey and would be scared of missing something 🤣

Headinthedrawer · 17/09/2019 13:31

I'm with you.The primary school group one is constant.Alot of it could be discussed privately between individual parents too.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 17/09/2019 14:04

I don't have what's app at all. I never have.
