I've only been posting/reading for around a year (NC x100) so I'm still very much a newbie, but it just occurred to me how much these boards have impacted my life. Examples:

  • I now only wear M&S bralets after they were recommended by a thousand people on a 'large bust' thread
  • I started doing my local Parkrun every Saturday after reading a really inspiring thread
  • After posting about a medical problem the replies encouraged me to go back to GP and I've now been correctly diagnosed
  • I met with a very kind poster IRL who helped give me advice
  • I learned never to admit I only wash my towels once a month and to hide my toilet brush when guests come just in case they take offence

Anyone else?

I’ve met some amazing people through the conception and pregnancy boards. The posters on the boards migrated into Facebook groups and real life friends.

I bought some zoflora once but I've never used it.

I've realised more about the world, particularly a wide spectrum of political viewpoints. I am now a rad fem. Apparently I always was but I didn't realise how much until mn. I have been more informed on very minor things - the sorts of things that you never think you'll need to know about until they happen to you and thanks to mn and having read a post 3 weeks earlier, have been able to fix them quickly.

I wish I'd been on mumsnet when my friend was describing her boyfriend behaviour that I now realise was abusive.

Or when friend have talked about stopping work to care for children, without the protection of being married!

As of yesterday I bring a bag of doughnuts to every restaurant I visit too...

What are the M&S braletts op???

Thanks to Mn, I'm a lot more feisty now and much more like the old me I used to be.
It's been liberating to read about so many people going through the same things as me, not to mention the support I've been given in times of need.
Most people in here really are lovely.
