Watford to Victoria Palace Theatre

AIBU to ask for help in working out the best way to get from Watford to The Victoria Palace Theatre tomorrow?
I'm a country bumpkin and not very confident on tubes. I've googled and I think I can walk to a train station in 5 minutes and get a 45 minute train to Euston then I don't know what to do. Or I can walk 20 minutes to a tube station and try and work out the tubes.
When I asked the hotel staff they thought I could get either tube or train from the same station a few minutes walk away but they weren't very sure! (The staff are not local)
Could some kind soul please help me work out the best way to get to the theatre?
I'm going to watch the matinee of Hamilton!

Where about’s are you staying in Watford? Do you know which station you are close to as there would be a few different options for you

Watford junction to Euston. Euston to Victoria on Victoria line.

It’s v easy

I’m at Watford Central Premier Inn, not sure what the nearest station is but I can look that up.

Watford Junction to Euston should take 15 minutes not 45. Then just get the Victoria line from Euston to Victoria. Best case scenario takes 35 minutes - allow an hour for safety.

I’m very excited, and will sleep better now I know where I’m going. I hope I manage the tubes okay.
Thanks for your help.

The tube is easily managed.

Use your contactless card to tap in on the yellow card reader at the gate at Watford Junction. Take s fast train to Euston. Tap out with the same contactless card when you go through the barrier at Euston.

Look for the ‘underground’ sign.
Use your (same) contactless debit card to go through the gate. Follow signs for Victoria Line Southbound. Get on train, get off at Victoria.
Use your same contactless card to tap out at Victoria.

Do the journey in reverse to get back to Watford.

The point about using your debit card is that if you make other tube or bus journeys, the amount you spend on travel will automatically be capped at the off-peak travelcard rate for the zones you travel in.

You can’t tap in more than one person on the same card, for example if you have a teen with you they need their own contactless card or travelcard bought at the station.

It’s really easy to get from Euston to Victoria and then the theatre is right outside the exit. Just look for the little Big Ben, it’s right in front of the theatre.

Thank you to everyone who’s replied, and a special thanks to MildThing for that fantastic step by step guide. Just what an oldie from the sticks needs! So very helpful.

OP: you must tap out when you leave the station platform or through the tube gate, even if the gates are wide open. If you don’t, the computer charges you for the longest journey on the line.

Have a wonderful day.

We’ve done it, thanks again. Very excited. We are in the Shakespeare having a quick drink!
