Stop all this highly irritating coyness.

OP posts:
LadyCarolinePooterVonThigh · 13/09/2019 20:18

Hepzibah he could have a pot belly and have inner hotness, the "hotpot" effect. As could you!

Allington could you interest him in something else? He sounds a bit Mr Toad-ish, perhaps a new enthusiasm could be nurtured?

*TomHagen it may have been a large dog. Do you drink a lot?

Mysterian · 13/09/2019 20:20
  1. Shan't. Your post makes me want to do the exact opposite.
  2. Cycling.
  3. I don't have a husband.
  4. Why do you want to know anyway? I want to know what you're doing with all this data before I tell you what the husband I don't have does for a hobby.
  5. I sound all intriguing and mysterious if I don't answer...
countrygirl99 · 13/09/2019 20:30

My OHs hobby is dogging...... well flyball really but I get a laugh seeing the look on people's faces when I'm on the phone and ask him if he is dogging at the weekend.

TheCanyon · 13/09/2019 20:33

My dh is a right boring boring bugger, his hobbies are:
Chatting to EVERYONE
Whinging... he's always oh so busy you know.
Watching football
Sleeping on the sofa soon as he sits down/ not watching the football.

@Verily1 the ou has been my 'hobby' for the last 3 years, which leads onto my second hobby of whinging at myself and third hobby, wine! Grin

Gwenhwyfar · 13/09/2019 22:53

"How come no one has mentioned doing an open uni course? That takes 16 hours a week and thousands do it."

Doesn't really take 16 hours a week in my experience.
And I wouldn't call it a hobby, more like having a second job.

TomPinch · 13/09/2019 23:47

@TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble

do I get my cigar now?

TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble · 13/09/2019 23:48

@LadyCarolinePooterVonThigh I'm no stranger to wine, gin or champagne so may be seeing double, but you have a horse and quite a big dog? Plus a tiny dog that's a total diva?

PigletJohn · 14/09/2019 01:09

@BaaBaaBS

You are married to Iain Duncan Smith?

TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble · 14/09/2019 08:13

@TomPinch still no cigar but that looks amazing! Can we go anyway?

LadyCarolinePooterVonThigh · 14/09/2019 08:16

TomHagen while you are hallucinating please could you add some statues and a fountain? Ta.

It'll be Sober October soon though. My gin-soaked imaginary animals will melt away like a mist, leaving only a grumpy pensioner and his cars, with a visiting greyhound in the garden.

LadyCarolinePooterVonThigh · 14/09/2019 08:20

TomPinch and TomHagen will there be a coach going? Don't forget the crate of stout in the back.

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 14/09/2019 08:47

Don't forget the crate of stout in the back.

Gotta be Mackeson's...

LadyCarolinePooterVonThigh · 14/09/2019 08:57

Zoidberg Yep. This is me getting ready. If I'm invited, obviously!

Yet again. Please. Just say what your husband’s bloody hobby is.
Thewheelsarefallingoff · 14/09/2019 09:03

I think DH's main hobbies are pooing (hours everyday) and leaving cupboard doors open Grin.

1wokeuplikethis · 14/09/2019 09:11

Paddle boarding on canals with a break for a nice scone and clotted cream.

RitmoRatmo · 14/09/2019 09:14

@HepzibahGreen do you live in Sheffield by any chance? It’s MAMIL/climbers city. Not complaining tho as I am one of them

QueenofLouisiana · 14/09/2019 09:18

I’m certain that revealing my DH’s hobbies of sitting on the sofa and examining his bald patch will be very outing.

That’s why I’d never tell you.

Ringdonna · 14/09/2019 09:21

I can’t as too outing.

1wokeuplikethis · 14/09/2019 09:22

But anyway, aren’t hobbies supposed to take you out of family life for snippets of time? Something for you, where you can be absorbed in something that isn’t wiping noses and bums or cooking or refereeing squabbles or looking at spreadsheets at work? Isn’t it about clawing back a bit of yourself to make you a better person within the family, and to show your children you are more than one dimensional?

It’s different if a hobby is negatively impacting family life ie every weekend and evening, that’s a cop out and not fair on the family. But the general consensus on MN when a woman moans about their blokes hobby is to get one yourself (I wrote a thread a long time ago about such an issue and was strongly advised to get my own hobby) which I did and it makes me so happy. I won’t say what it is 😜 but once a week I avoid bedtimes with it, I do it on Saturday and Sunday and I even went on a 4 day holiday with them all. If that was reversed and my husband did it he would be classed as a selfish wankbadger. Maybe I am a selfish wankbadger because I’m also - get this - a stay at home mum. So by MN standards I think that makes me on a par with the devil.

However, my husband sees how good it is for my mental health and my fitness and my social circle has increased 100. He also has time for his hobbies (including cycling OF COURSE) and we have loads of time together as a family and as a couple too.

So it is manageable and in that context I think hobbies, whatever they may be, are entirely beneficial to the whole family.

TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble · 14/09/2019 10:20

@LadyCarolinePooterVonThigh of course you can come. Have added statues & fountains to the garden. I had a lot of tequila last night- your garden looked glorious! *Adds tequila to booze stash on coach.

LadyCarolinePooterVonThigh · 14/09/2019 11:16

TomHagen you are so kind! I Feel much more upwardly mobile now!

I'll be standing at the corner with my dancing shoes and a spare hairnet.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 14/09/2019 11:27
  1. Wine - buying it, drinking it, reading about it. I benefit from this, so I don't object....Grin
  2. Nerdy board games. I like an occasional game myself, but reserve the right to whinge if when it becomes too time consuming/conveniently happens when kids need putting to bed etc
KarmaStar · 14/09/2019 12:02

Why the aggressive heading and post op?

nononever · 14/09/2019 12:08

Why the aggressive heading and post op?

Am I alone in not seeing the aggression?
