Stop all this highly irritating coyness.

@TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble

Heh, I can guess what you do. None of that going in round my parts. Sad

TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble · 13/09/2019 09:59

@TomPinch - I'm now intrigued as to what you think I do!

PookieDo · 13/09/2019 10:00

I was a fishing widow once upon a time

I really hated all that damp dark green shit he insisted had to take up an entire spare bedroom. And he never caught anything. He went to France for 2 weeks when DD1 was 6 weeks old and wondered why I was pissed off

I also see male cyclists on weekends and feel like shouting at them ‘go home and spend time with your kids’

....ballroom dancing?

FreddyFazbear · 13/09/2019 10:07

I always imagine archery or some sort of Medieval jousting tournaments. Or maybe birdwatching.

Urskeks · 13/09/2019 10:10

Was going to poke at you for calling dungeons and dragons weird, in my household it's ME who plays it, but actually to be honest I'd probably find it boring if it was more mainstream.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to get their OH doing a hobby, mines sat on the sofa too damned much and needs to get out 😂

But yeah, I agree it's cycling, though most of my friends and/or their partners run. It's on here where it appears to be cycling.

My DH likes what i call 'tractor porn'.

Do i win?

Sobeyondthehills · 13/09/2019 10:11

dogging. Just assume that and then you will be pleasantly surprised

All long rides have a cafe stop in them, otherwise there's no point doing the ride! Grin
That's my logic anyway. Ride out, have coffee and cake (or bacon sandwich), ride back.

Some popular routes near us have bike cafes with dedicated bike racks too.

MerryMarigold · 13/09/2019 10:14

What is MAMIL?

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 13/09/2019 10:14

DH's hobby is photography - that's fine, he's good at it, and I often go along with my inferior camera. But he likes to photoshop his images to death, whereas I prefer to keep them the way I took them. And then he shows me endless before and after examples with long, detailed explanations of what he's done to them. I try to look interested and make appropriate noises when really my brain is leaking out of my ears and I just want to get back to my cross stitch...

mumsey2be · 13/09/2019 10:16

Sculpture and woodwork. He took an art degree later in life and doe excellent portrait sculpture - he is always trying new materials, marble, wood, ceramics, but as i am 6 months pregnant and we are moving back to Brighton, his main hobby is moving all our stuff from one house to another atm!

ShippingNews · 13/09/2019 10:18

Miniature railway design is DH's hobby. When not actually doing it, he talks to hundreds of other guys online about railways. ZZZzzzz

user87382294757 · 13/09/2019 10:19

Where I live there seems to be a lot of people with hobby jobs, (often quite wealthy types) for example one lady runs sewing groups in her house, while her DH has a business designing and making furniture. We get magazines with stories about them through the door. You can pay £30 to do sit in the woods and knit, apparently.

MAMIL: Middle aged man in lycra

MerryMarigold · 13/09/2019 10:21

To the Pp with the bus painting DH, I used to know someone who ran a bus enthusiast publication. It's a very small world, bus enthusiasm!

His other hobby, derailing democracy, is also a small world inhabited by a privileged few, but it's sadly more impactful than cardboard bus painting.

Thank you so much! Bugging me

popcorndiva · 13/09/2019 10:23

My DH makes model railways. That was not as bad as the Bowls that took up 3 weeknights and every Saturday. He gave that up when we had our DS. He kept on the model railways but sometimes takes DS to give me a break and he enjoys it.

Whattheother2catsprefer · 13/09/2019 10:23

I watch football and rugby, knit, crochet, cake decorate and get together a few times a year for a weekend away with other crafter's to try new stuff. DH is cadet leader (started this when he stopped being in the TA), he plays a musical instrument and also games. As a family we do historical re-enactment. I give not one shiny shit if bored, unfulfilled people who have no life beyond work, housework and the sodding X factor make judgements about us. Mostly because I get to spend my summer weekends watching the sunset over beautiful castles while drinking and laughing with fantastic friends. (Oh and sword training in armour keeps DH fit as fuck). My kids have grown up reenacting - it is a fantastic hobby for them but it can freak out unsuspecting teachers when they talk about their friends the Victorian chimney sweep and Tudor squire.

TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble · 13/09/2019 10:25

@TomPinch close but no cigar.

MotherSpider · 13/09/2019 10:33

If I said what my husband's hobby was, it would narrow him down to one of about 300 adult men in the U.K. Most of my friends and collegues know what he does, but I bet they don't know anyone else who does it. That's why I don't mention specifics!
