Looking for something that I can take the kids to do near here while an elderly relative visits another relative. I’ve promised I’d take them up on the train as they wouldn’t know where to go etc but I will have my kids with me and wondered if there’s anything nearby that I could take them to see / do while she’s visiting and still be close by for when she’s finished visiting? Thanks.

It’s right by Ruskin Park which has a playground. How long will you have and how old are the DC?

Ruskin Park is nearby. I don't know it personally but it's a park - it must be good for kids!

Fab. Thank you. Sounds perfect. They are 7 and 11. I’m not sure how long I will have - I imagine an hour or two. Depends how tired my elderly relative gets. The train may take it out of her to be honest.

Horniman Museum isn’t that far-Forest Hill. A bus ride, shouldn’t take too long if not rush hour. Brockwell Park is also not that far.

Buy some squirrel food at the entrance to the park. They are incredibly tame.

Ruskin Park is fab and practical next door. Children’s play park, zip wire, paddling pool - although may be drained by now. Personally, I think it would take quite a while to get to the Hornimans on a bus from there

Peckham Rye Park is large.
East Dulwich lordship lane for: cinema, food, shops, toys, sweets, ice cream, market on Saturday ....

There is also a trapeze school in Ruskin Park (who knew?) that runs classes for age 6 and up. You might just get lucky and find there’s a class at the same time.

There’s a lovely park nearby. I was born at that hospital 25 years ago 😊

Ruskin Park and then walk across to the Fox on the Hill (favourite pub name ever) which is a wetherspoons so good for lunch Grin

I would take them to Horniman Museum, 176 or 185 drops you right outside. You also have Dulwich Park where the kids can hire out bikes or go on the boating lake. Jump on a number 42 bus, get off at north dulwich station and it’s around a ten minute walk through the village,
