I currently have two workmen in the house. They're very pleasant and are doing a good job. However they have used both bathrooms to go to the toilet and neither has washed their hands. Then they go around touching door handles, light switches etc and I'm find myself making a mental note of where to sanatize after 😅 I know it happens loads so aibu to get grossed out? 😷

How do you know they haven't washed their hands? I find it weirder that you seem to know so much about visitors toilet habits. Were you listening at the door for the tap running? Confused

Moissanite · 11/09/2019 14:24

Of course not, its easy to hear when the taps are running in my house and they went to the loo with the door open 🙄

Yeah,it's grim, isn't it? I've been in the same situation and you can easily hear when the taps are run here and they definitely weren't! I go round after cleaning, blerkEnvy

Here we go. Sanitise everything if it makes you feel better. But I don't know how you know they didn't wash their hands unless you were either inspecting their hands for wetness or indeed standing close enough to the door to listen to the tap. Both make you sound rather odd imo.

They went to the loo with the door open? That's weirder than not washing their hands.

I am very grateful for my quiet taps though.

DontCallMeShitley · 11/09/2019 14:32

If they left the door open you don't need to worry about the door handles on those rooms as they probably didn't touch them.

I also have workmen in today and I’m assuming they wash their hands but I still go round when they’ve gone and bleach the downstairs loo ( which they’ve been allocated) , handles , light switches etc .

Sparklingbrook · 11/09/2019 14:39

If I have workmen in I give them a key and leave them to it, I don't stay in and monitor their toilet habits.

TheKarateKitty · 11/09/2019 14:49

No, you’re not unreasonable to be grossed out. Both of those things are foul.

I know this is going to sound daft/funny.
But I had a builder who I had known and used for many years.
When he asked if he could use the toilet I said of course bud.
Then when he was on the way I shouted dont make a row and remember to wash your hands. He was in hysterics and always washed his hands. then when he came down he asked me what the 20th letter of the alphabet is . I said T, he said yes please we were both laughing so clearly not unhappy. I then said the same to anyone that came and asked to use the toilet and of yet its only been met with humour
Try it ?
