I am a member of a gym that is part of a chain (won't name names). The one closest to me is a converted from what used to be a supermarket, so the studios for classes and spin classes have no ceiling as the roof is so high.
The volume of the spin classes is so loud it's ridiculous. You can't hear yourself think, and I can't hear my headphones with the volume on full blast over it. It's physically oppressive and hurts my ears. You can hear it from the car park outside.
I don't go to the class, but because the spin room has no ceiling (it's a partition then open to the roof) and no door they can't shut the sound out so the rest of the gym is just as loud. Spin classes run at peak time so for me there isn't much option to not go while the classes are on.
I asked today for the volume to be turned down and was basically told that they tried that (so others must have complained before me) and the people in the class said that if it's any quieter than what it is there is no atmosphere so basically that's it there is nothing they can do.
Aibu to be really pissed off about this? I pay to use the gym but feel I can't during peak times as I cannot stand the sound
