Even today's announcement, much as I wish he would reconsider, is only in line with what he's being saying for a while - that he'd fight tooth and nail to prevent parliamentary democracy being overturned and the UK being forced into a no-deal Brexit. He’s intelligent, humorous, has integrity, takes no prisoners and loves his family so much he fills up when he looks at them. He’s amazing. I’m a bit worried about myself because I adore Heseltine too - and I hate Tories with a passion.

Did you see the clips on the news earlier of when he first started out in politics? He had extreme right wing views, before becoming more moderate over the years.

He’s a good lad. I’d buy him a pint in the pub.

He’s alleged to have bullied a former member of staff so badly she was diagnosed with post traumatic stress. Another former member of staff also made bullying allegations. He was only saved from the scandal because they didn’t want a new Speaker for Brexit negotiations.

Now, he has handled Brexit well, but it drives me crazy that he is being canonised when he has this history.

Jo Swinson did a very nice tribute about how he had improved the commons for working mothers and thanked him for allowing small babies into the house. I think he’s generally a good egg.
