Can You Help me With This Facebook Problem

Posting here for more traffic

Ok a Facebook follower has tagged themselves in a photo of mine on Facebook but I'm thinking they have done it by mistake

...it's just a photo of me, nobody else

How do I remove their tag from my photo , is that possible to do of they are the ones who put the tag there?

I only noticed when I looked on their Facebook page and saw my profile photo in their photo album with the tag (does someone tagging your photo automatically put your photo in their album)?

I think you can report the photo and Facebook will take it down

SuchAToDo · 09/09/2019 09:46

Oh God I read that back and it's as clear as mud...

Basically I went on a Facebook followers Facebook page and saw one of my old profile pictures in their photo album (we don't know each other in real life) and that their name was tagged in it...(I don't tag anyone in my photos)
Will them tagging the photo automatically have saved the photo in their Facebook photo album?...and how do I remove the tag?

Are they a follower or a friend?

And can't you just message them and ask them to untag themselves? That would be the simplest solution.

Will they remove the tag or the photo?

So it isn’t on your timeline, it’s a photo on their page?

Horehound · 09/09/2019 09:48

I think if you click the 3 dots to edit it you can just delete the tag of the person.

They are a follower but I don't know them in real life and don't have much interaction, maybe once in a while we may like a school others posts but that's about it

They might remove the photo but if they've taken a photo you've posted then you can't stop them doing it again. Anything you put on Facebook can be downloaded by anyone who has access to your Facebook.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 09/09/2019 09:52

Delete the photo. It will remove it from their page too. Then you can upload it again on your own page and restrict your privacy settings so people can’t tag themselves on it.

The tag is on the copy of the photo on their page and in my page too but I've tried clicking on it and theirs no option to remove the tag which makes me think they put the tag there...

And that's why I was wondering if you tag a photo does it save the photo in your photo album or has the follower gone to the trouble of adding my photo to his photo album Shock

Sounds in that case like she’s downloaded/saved the photo and uploaded it to her own page

Report it to FB and they should remove the picture.

Readjust your privacy settings

I originally uploaded the profile photo...was only of my head and shoulders (to be a profile photo)...but it is old (I've had other profile photos since then

I think it's option 2 that you suggested

I uploaded it, then downloaded it, then added it to their account and tagged it (because how can they have it in their photo album)

It depends on what kind of album it is.

If it's a normal photo album like "Summer 2007" or whatever then no, that means they would have downloaded and reuploaded it.

If it is a special album like "Photos of Joe Bloggs" it doesn't behave like a normal album and contains all photos where Joe has been tagged regardless of who uploaded them to begin with.

If you want to know whether it is the same iteration of the photo or a copy, try writing a comment on it or liking it and seeing if the comment or like shows up on their version or not.

If the photo is in your own album you can control the tags on it and just remove one.

Ridingthegravytrain · 09/09/2019 10:16

I’ve scrolled through other peoples Facebook photos before on my phone and accidentally tagged myself! If you’re a bit clumsy and click too many times (thinking you’re clicking to get to the next photo)

I’m paranoid now! But my point is it could be a mistake
