To think that there is nothing better on a Saturday morning than a fried egg butty

When you have been on a plant based diet for 18 months and have just finished a night shift from the bowels of hell itself.

Maybe a fish finger butty would be more divine?

A milky coffee would go down well too....
think I’m falling off the wagon somewhat...

Love an egg banjo in this house. Although I think tea goes better!

pooopypants · 07/09/2019 10:20

YABU

Bacon and egg, extra bacon, brown sauce, then talk to me.

JesusHRooseveltChristAgain · 07/09/2019 10:24

Oohh! I think you've just given me the incentive to get out of bed. I hope we have eggs Grin

The Red Dwarf special in this house:

Triple fried egg sandwich with chilli sauce and chutney

To be fair, it’s the food of the gods even if you haven’t been plant-based for months/years. Tonnes of pepper and ketchup.

Calic0 · 07/09/2019 10:33

Amazing! Loads of black pepper and a good drizzle of sriracha is my current favourite way to serve a fried egg sandwich. Food of the Saturday breakfast gods.

Worgust · 07/09/2019 10:35

Eggy bread, crispy bacon and mucky beans (baked beans done in the bacon pan)

00Sassy · 07/09/2019 10:37

Oh yes! I’ve already had porridge now Sad but lunch may well have to be a fried egg butty!
Buttered bread and salt on the egg for me, simple but perfect!

Thehagonthehill · 07/09/2019 10:38

My DD is going through a cooking phase, the house smells of fresh bread.
My diet may go to pot this morning.
Warm fresh bread and butter.

Goldensunnydays81 · 07/09/2019 10:38

Now I need to go and buy bread so I can have one!

Fatted · 07/09/2019 10:38

Plant based diet? Do you mean vegan?! I'd last about 18 minutes doing that!!

I've just had a nice bacon and egg butty made with white Warburtons toasty bread and Ketchup. Brought up to me in bed by DH and served with a nice hot cup of tea.

I think the only improvement would be some Asda extra special sausages.

HavelockVetinari · 07/09/2019 10:38

YABU - scrambled eggs cooked in the pan DH used to fry bacon. Mmmmm! Served with baby plum tomatoes and a giant milky coffee.

TheBigBallOfOil · 07/09/2019 10:40

A fried egg butty must be the best quick meal ever.

Constantsarechanging · 07/09/2019 10:44

Potato scone (fried) and fried egg in a buttery roll with ketchup! Amazing

Lovesgood · 07/09/2019 10:54

Only if you add a massive amount of bacon.

chesterdraws1 · 07/09/2019 10:56

Now I'm hungry and will have to get out of bed

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/09/2019 11:02

DH and I got up and had coffee and huge bacon butties together this morning. The lazy teenage sons are still in bed, so they've missed out, bwahahaha..!

Pinkypurple35 · 07/09/2019 11:07

Mmmmm, throw a sausage and some ketchup on it and I’m there.

roseenglishrose · 07/09/2019 11:09

Ive just had 2! Fresh Scottish morning roll, salted butter and salt on the fried egg - yum!

dementedpixie · 07/09/2019 11:11

Dont forget your fried potato scone

EmmiJay · 07/09/2019 11:17

Bleh. Egg.Sad Bacon, good. Sausage, good. Ketchup, gooooood.

crosser62 · 07/09/2019 11:23

Yep vegan except not vegan.. not for ethical reasons but for health reasons.
No meat though, don’t eat meat.

So I fried up 2 eggs, till crispy round the edges, slightly runny yolk, brown whole meal soft large bread... brown sauce, squash down those slices and OMG... pure delish... or as Joey says.. as a previous poster stated.. gooood!

I’m with you Emmi - not the biggest fan of egg and the thought of one fried makes my mouth go a bit watery (and not in the salivating sense!).

Bacon and sausage sarnie with brown sauce would be delightful. I haven’t had one in years.

Bezalelle · 07/09/2019 11:35

oh good call, OP. I'm off to make one now, plus a cuppa in my "weekend" mug Grin

MrsGrindah · 07/09/2019 11:37
