..to think that this is the worst advertising campaign in the history of the world?

Firstly, it doesn't even make sense. KFC isn't a chicken, it's a chicken shop. How can you 'find a bigger chicken' than KFC, a SHOP that sells normal sized chicken? They haven't purchased the rights to use the pre-photoshopped image (according to the photographer commenting on the tweet), and surely KFC are within their rights to sue?

They've actually sent boxes of chicken to journalists. When the country is in absolute turmoil. Who in their right mind would sign this off?

Meh

CrystalShark · 06/09/2019 19:35

Yeah, serious misstep there on behalf of whoever signed that off. It doesn’t make any sense.

1CantPickAName · 06/09/2019 19:37

Yes a really rubbish advert

newtlover · 06/09/2019 19:41

it smacks of someone who isn't quite sure what KFC is and has never eaten it, like trying to be down with the plebs but getting it wrong. Even people who eat KFC, I imagine, will think this is pathetic given the crisis we are in.

eladen · 06/09/2019 19:42

God, this country is fucking embarrassing.

IAmALazyArse · 06/09/2019 19:43

You gotta love KFC's answer though😁

WaterSheep · 06/09/2019 19:48

It's clucking ridiculous. Honestly if I were the photographer i'd be spitting feathers. I supposed they had to resort to twitter because talk is cheap, and they thought this would be more eggciting.

BrokenBrit · 06/09/2019 19:48

What a shameful excuse for the party in government.
Don’t understand KFC’s reply though? Blush

CoolLikeOvie · 06/09/2019 19:51

Not even boxes of KFC. Just this heap of embarrassment. Lots of people mentioning the increase in food bank usage/ child poverty, and the Tories thinking this is appropriate. Not that it would be anything but cringeworthy even if nobody in the country were going hungry.

Yes, the KFC social media manager deserves a raise. The Conservative SMM deserves a P45.

What was KFC's reply?

gothicsprout · 06/09/2019 19:53

I think the worst campaign at the moment is the Dove beauty ‘diversity’ idents running on Sky Witness - where all the women featured seem to be white, slim, similar age and work in TV/media.

What diversity are they talking about?! Confused

Templetonstunafish · 06/09/2019 19:57

It's fucking embarrassing. Literally nobody in the country knows what's going on and the government are doing this!

I don't get the KFC reply though, please someone explain? LBC?

araiwa · 06/09/2019 19:58

Youve clearly forgotten about gilettes toxic masculinity and me too campaigns

WhatsMyPassword · 06/09/2019 20:01

It's a dig at the chicken shop knife campaign

behindlings · 06/09/2019 20:05

The KFC response is referencing LBC the London talk radio station, lots of angry political chat. www.lbc.co.uk/

Fair play to KFC, good response

tommycockles · 06/09/2019 20:05

What does the KFC reply mean please?

chomalungma · 06/09/2019 20:05

Nice comeback though

LBC are pretty relevant in Brexit news atm, having been the radio station which hosted JRMs attack on a Doctor discussing no-deal impact on healthcare. I assume KFC are basically saying, why the fuck are you mentioning (@ing) us in your tweets. We are a fast food company, not a political commentator.

Of course, there are other terrible advertising campaigns. But these are people who are supposed to be running the country. And they're acting like 12 year old trolls. Or at a push, contestants from the first week of The Apprentice.

The worst campaign I've seen, recently, is all the creepy child mannekins wearing animal masks in M&S. I can't walk past them fast enough.

This is up there, though.

LizzieSiddal · 06/09/2019 20:10

Wankers

PickAChew · 06/09/2019 20:11

Right up there.

elessar · 06/09/2019 20:15

It's farcical.

They're supposed to be sorting the country out, not playing childish, immature jokes.

ASeriesOfUnfortunateEvents · 06/09/2019 20:34

Goodness, so embarrassing. Who on earth signed that off? The country is split, people are understandingly worried and THIS is what our chosen government tweet at such a time? Horrendous.

Well done to KFC Twitter on the way they handled this.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/09/2019 20:42

KFC are rocking it though. I don't eat it any more. May be time to restart.
