Lighthearted really, although I can't stop worrying about the amount of things my 1 year old is afraid of!

The biggest day to day worry for him is ceiling lights! This started a couple of months ago and hasn't gone away yet. We show him how they switch on and off and he seems to even enjoy this sometimes but at other times he can be happily playing and then look up at the light fitting (on or off) and get really upset. When I am carrying him and he is higher up so closer to the lights he clings on to me for dear life. He has started shows signs of being afraid of light fittings when out and about too.
He is also afraid of noises when he can't detect where they are coming from (for example, the sound of the ice cream van outside or when I talk to Alexa and it talks back- I've stopped doing this).
What unfathomable things are your babies afraid of? For those who have been through it, please tell me this will pass. I can't make light fittings go away unfortunately!

Love this thread Smile

2yo DS is absolutely petrified of the blender and my stand mixer. I do a lot of baking and every time it’s on he’s screaming and crying if he’s anywhere within earshot.

Also, hand dryers and, strangely, cooked chicken.

@MidnightMystery My son did this when he was younger I’d completely forgotten!
Op, my son was afraid of the light that flashes in the smoke detector, after copious chats about fireman Sam he has grown out of it now 😂

Just an update to say there is a 'light' at the end of the tunnel and my now 14 month old has thankfully got over his fear of ceiling lights! His new one is a fear of the dialing tone on our cordless phone but I can manage that a lot more easily than lights Grin Hang in there everyone!

Oh and he is also weirdly scared of his Rody bouncy horse. He gestures that he wants to go on it but then as soon as we put him on he gets scared and holds his arms up to get off

My niece used to cry every time she heard the word "no". Even when she started to speak, whenever she said no herself she'd cry!
My 2yo is scared of a toy spider, not keen on any real bugs or worms either. 1yo not bothered though.

I have a 2 year old that is terrified of playdough being squeezed through play dough moulds with holes. Hmm

My son hates anything that's too fluffy. Like all those "that's not my..." books - he cries at all the fluffy ones. We got a puppy and he hates touching her. He's fine with soft, but there's a strict line haha

My Ds used to be terrified of Miss Hoolie from Balamory.

My 6 month old who is normally is happy little soul was terrified of one of our builders who wears a hoodie. The builder was quite upset about it as my LO was smiling and giggling at all the other builders but kept wailing when the one with the hoddie approached and all his mates were joking with him about it. He was really relieved when he realised it was just the hoddie that was causing it.

Hand dryers, cow noises and the snard from Hey Duggee!
