Please can you tell me some of the things you have got for your child's first birthday? We have got our son a trike but want to get him a few little bits, ideally learning toys that aren't overlly expensive. TIA

Don't they just enjoy cardboard boxes at that age?

Start your duplo/wooden railway/small world collection.

An oversize book with textures to touch and that becomes a fun toy to play with! Educational !

You can’t go wrong with Duplo

Happyland toys from ELC. Both my dc had loads of Happyland from about 1yo and dd still plays with it now aged 6. It's chunky enough for them to hold as babies and they can play with them more imaginatively as they get older and to can add to the collection as and when.

And a bottle of bubbly for yourself... you've survived year 1!!!
