To think the Daily Mail fawning over Princess Charlotte is too much

Five stories today including one on the teacher’s house price and clothes!

And loads of obsequious and grovelling comments about Charlotte and Kate.

“Dearest Catherine - doubt you read the Daily Mail, but please, please grow your family! One or two more babies! They are darling!”

“Royal fans went into meltdown on social media as they reacted to the touching photos of Charlotte's first day.

One wrote: 'Sobbing at pictured of little Princess Charlotte starting school with her big brother”.

What on Earth?
🤷🏻‍♀️

It isn't the Daily Mail's fault - they're a newspaper, they exist to make money, they will print what they think people want to read.

We need to abolish the monarchy, it's as simple as that.

Much better to abolish the Daily Mail. It would be a much bigger improvement.

@Wildorchidz nothing at all.

leaserspottedmummybird · 08/09/2019 14:27

@Mackerz I think he will go to the same school as his cousins.

Mackerz · 08/09/2019 14:34

@leaserspottedmummybird

I think H&M will end up in the US. M seems more concerned with her image there than here, hence the hiring of the US PR firm.

leaserspottedmummybird · 08/09/2019 14:42

@Mackerz Americans do like them more than the British

LaMarschallin · 08/09/2019 14:46

It is the law that if any child of famous parents appears in the media, they must be described as "cute" or "adorable" and anything they do must be "the most adorable thing ever" or, at least, "melt hearts".

Even if they're bog-standard looking (even, gasp, plain), couldn't be picked out of a crowd if they didn't have a big arrow saying: "FAMOUS PERSON'S CHILD" pointing at them and just bumble around doing age-appropriate things.

Even Charlotte's plastic hair clips are "adorable".

To not adore them or think they're the "cutest thing ever", or to suggest they're actually pretty ordinary is tantamount to child abuse. Treason, in the case of the royal family.

Mackerz · 08/09/2019 14:47

@leaserspottedmummybird

Americans don’t have to pay for them. If they were just bog standard preachy celebs like Bono or Clooney, then they’d be ignored but the British public feel like they have the right to criticise them as they are tax payer funded.

leaserspottedmummybird · 08/09/2019 16:26

@LaMarschallin yes that is so correct. I for one do not find her (or her hair clips) 'adorable'
I'm not being mean at all. It's like I think my own kids are adorable but I'm not stupid enough ( or shallow enough) to believe that everybody else does too.

Iamthewombat · 08/09/2019 16:53

A poster upthread complains (I think? Apologies if not) that because we pay for the royals, some people think we are ‘owed’ a look at them.

Too right! If they are on my payroll, I want them performing.

I like @PenguinPop ‘s ideas. I’d also like to see the following:

Camilla opening a chain of state-owned gin bars and working 5 days a week in one of them, advising on tonic and botanicals as well as pouring.

The queen hosting £150 a head buffets where she and Philip carry around plates of sandwiches and ask, “have you come far?”. If you pay another £200 you get a go of the crown and the sceptre to take selfies with. Revenue to the NHS.

William and Kate hosting £50 a head barbecues at a variety of castles and stately homes. Balmoral, Sandringham etc. William works the barbecue, Kate hands out paper plates and napkins. Prince Andrew goes in the stocks, £10 to throw three wet sponges at him. Revenues to the NHS. Fergie DJing in the dance tent.

I’ll find jobs for the others too. Get them earning their keep, maybe Anne and Zara should do donkey rides at William & Kate’s ‘Crownfest’.

Mackerz · 08/09/2019 16:56

@iamthewombat

What could we put Eugenie and Beatrice to work as? They are serious hangers on.

I’ve always thought they could be tour guides to some of the castles.

Iamthewombat · 08/09/2019 17:01

That is not the worst idea. Didn’t one of them cut Ed Sheeran’s face by mistake when waving a sword around, pretending to knight him? So yeah, tour guides!

Mackerz · 08/09/2019 17:20

@iamthewombat

I didn’t know that about Ed Sheeran. They really are knobs.

leaserspottedmummybird · 08/09/2019 23:42

@Iamthewombat yes they did cut him when messing with some sort of sword

Iamthewombat · 09/09/2019 09:26

The worst bit was, Ed Sheeran was enough of a lickspittle to GO BACK TO THE PARTY AFTER BEING STITCHED UP IN A&E!

He had to go back to pay homage to his liege ladies.

lyralalala · 09/09/2019 10:45

She was pretending to Knight James Blunt when Ed Sheeran got injured.

That makes going back to the party even worse imo - who goes back to a party when the host injured you fannying around with a sword?

SirTobyBelch · 09/09/2019 10:48

You are being unreasonable in reading the Daily Mail. No reasonable person would even know these stories exist.

LaMarschallin · 10/09/2019 15:57

The Daily Express has upped the ante to show up that Charlotte-hating rag the Mail, by calling the fact that William says she "loves unicorns" (translated by the DE into them being her "favourite thing in the world) as "extremely adorable.

She does know they're mythical, I suppose.
Maybe she needs never find out. There's probably someone from the DM getting a geneticist on the case as we speak.

A picture of her riding a unicorn would be the cutest, most super-adorable, heart meltingly wonderful thing ever.

And boo sucks to you then, Daily Express!

leaserspottedmummybird · 14/09/2019 12:14

'Extremely adorable ' pass the puke 🤮 bucket please

Tellmetruth4 · 14/09/2019 12:18

They are building her up ahead of knocking her down when she becomes a teenager and makes a mistake.
