To think the Daily Mail fawning over Princess Charlotte is too much

Five stories today including one on the teacher’s house price and clothes!

And loads of obsequious and grovelling comments about Charlotte and Kate.

“Dearest Catherine - doubt you read the Daily Mail, but please, please grow your family! One or two more babies! They are darling!”

“Royal fans went into meltdown on social media as they reacted to the touching photos of Charlotte's first day.

One wrote: 'Sobbing at pictured of little Princess Charlotte starting school with her big brother”.

What on Earth?
🤷🏻‍♀️

Expect a contract in the post penguin, you're hired.

PenguinPop · 05/09/2019 15:47

👍

daisychain01 · 05/09/2019 15:51

sobbing with happiness

Grin silent laughing Grin

Here, have my (Royal) grip

WorraLiberty · 05/09/2019 16:08

Why don’t people focus on their own lives and families instead of bowing and scraping to these people?

You're a Daily Mail reader who read the story and you're now discussing the story and slating your newspaper of choice.

So that statement is a bit confusing Confused

Biggobyboo · 05/09/2019 16:13

WorraLiberty - I’m a DM loather. If I was a DM reader I would be fawning over the royals with the rest of them or posting “let’s get our country back” nonsense and xenophobic comments. Casually scrolling through the online edition does not make me a reader.

I buy the Times on a weekend and the I during the week. I have never purchased a copy of the DM.

Yes it absolutely does.

Purchasing a copy and reading online, both bring the paper revenue. Every time you click a Daily Mail link you're supporting them financially.

pictish · 05/09/2019 16:18

You have to keep abreast of what the Daily Mail are spouting forth about...know your enemy and all that.

Wow at the peasant who sobbed to see Charlotte starting school. I hope she doffed her cap out of respect as well.

ChangeItChild · 05/09/2019 16:19

Please can someone appoint @PenguinPop as the new Royal PR manager 🙏🏼

WorraLiberty · 05/09/2019 16:21

Sorry I meant to add, which is fine but at least own it.

All the faux "I loathe the Daily Mail and I'm not a real reader" on Mumsnet, gets tiresome.

It is (and always has been since I've been a member) Mumsnet's most popular and linked to online newspaper.

Biggobyboo · 05/09/2019 16:23

Okay WorraLiberty that’s your opinion! I’m sorry you feel it’s tiresome. Grin

The DM says that ... this minority Royal (similar level to Princess Eugenie ffs) is public property and the dark skinned devil mother is keeping her from her rightful place in the public gaze

Does it? I don't usually read the Mail, so maybe you could link the bit about the "dark skinned devil mother"?

Biggobyboo · 05/09/2019 16:25

Is anybody going to admit that they sobbed with happiness and love Charlotte? Anybody?

Oh FFS. This is the LARGEST newspaper in the UK which causes immense damage to the country. Burying your head in the sand and pretending it doesn’t exist isn’t the answer.

I’ve tweeted/emailed them numerous times about stories which they’ve ended up taking down from their site.

They are part of the reason we have a 1.7% rape conviction rate. We had 35 cases out of 11,000 where the woman was proven to be lying and every single time the fail turned it into a huge story to give the impression that it’s hugely common.

You have to FIGHT these entities not ignore them. This is why Trump won, this is why Brexit happened. Because these things have been allowed to fester and people avoid it instead of fighting it.

RedSheep73 · 05/09/2019 16:30

Yes it is shit. But don't read it. Don't give them your money or attention.

derxa · 05/09/2019 16:32

The DM website is the first one I go to when I fire up the laptop.

GladAllOver · 05/09/2019 16:32

It's the usual tabloid crap with any royal or celeb.
First build them up, fawn all over them.
Then dig up some dirt and pull them to pieces.

kryztinababy · 05/09/2019 16:33

It's stupid. What adult gives a fuck what a 4 year old is wearing to school ??

Cakemonger · 05/09/2019 16:43

The DM is particularly awful but the creepy obsession with the royals and their children is everywhere - newspapers, magazines etc. It is embarrassing for the country.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/09/2019 16:44

Oh you can’t say anything even slightly negative about MM on here, @pottedshrimps.
Although yes I do agree with you. At least William and Kate let you see their little ones.
We are after all paying for them.

Mummy195 · 05/09/2019 16:45

Dearest Catherine..................surprised it didn't read Dearest St Catherine

WorraLiberty · 05/09/2019 16:55

Where has anyone said that? Confused

The OP said she's not a DM reader. I pointed out that she is.

The OP said that she doesn't buy the DM. I pointed out that she's still helping to finance it by reading it online.

ArgumentativeAardvaark

On the shaking hands - it is absolutely normal for Prep School pupils from Reception age onwards to be encouraged to shake hands with a senior staff member (and make eye contact at the same time) every morning as they enter school. Usually a different staff member would take this duty each morning - so yes Charlotte will have to shake hands with someone every morning as she arrives at school.

It helps with growing social confidence with adults. Personally I like it, but respect some may not be used to it. The kids get used to it.

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 05/09/2019 16:59

@LHReturns do your kids go to this school as well? You’re not speaking for primary schools in general I presume?

OssomMummy1 · 05/09/2019 16:59

i do not believe that immigrants ruined this country. I do not believe that NHS is poor value for taxpayer's money and I definitely have no interest in reading about half naked women in sunshine. So, I do not bother visiting dailymail website. I gave up since 2010. It is a No.1 FAKE NEWS WEBSITE

LHReturns · 05/09/2019 17:02

I said prep schools which mean private schools for ages 4 - 13.
