Mops - which one should we use?

Hi there,

Bit of a weird thread but honestly, AIBU for not wanting to use the disgusting stringy “basic” mops that are basically just a wooden stick attached to some stringy white shredded material??? My partner gets them for the bathroom floor but they get disgusting so quickly, are a hassle to clean and dry, collect craploads of dust and goodness knows what else in the head, and they have to be constantly replaced otherwise they stink. Just thinking about them makes me Envy (so not envy!)

What mops would you recommend?

Our bathroom is small but I would also use a mop on the smallish hallway leading to our rooms as well as part of the kitchen floor (it’s half carpet, half laminate(?) - don’t ask, we rent!)

I saw a mop in Wilko today, one of the plastic ones with sponge heads that you can replace etc. I don’t want to spend loads on some fancy pancy but I just want a clean and relatively hygienic mop!!!

What do you use/recommend?? Grin

To be honest, for small areas like that I would just use a cloth and do it old school, hands and knees, good wipe over and easier to get into edges and corners with a cloth too, bung in washing machine, job done. We have hard floors pretty much throughout and I've tried all sorts of mops, now have a robot mop and bloody love it!
All the others I tried ended up a bit manky, best of the bunch (apart from the robot) was one which had pads that fixed to the mop with poppers, easy to wash and took up less storage room.

I have the Vileda spray mop which I really like, I just keep a couple of different replacement mats for it so there's always a clean one. You just chuck them in the washer.
