Sex after miscarriage

Sorry TMI, but AIBU to have sex while still spotting after a miscarriage? Unfortunately had a miscarriage last Monday, had a D&C the following day. I just craved intimacy and just wanted to start trying right away, I’ve had sex with my partner 3 times however I am only spotting not bleeding. Has anyone else had sex while still spotting and fell pregnant?

I suppose if you feel fine enough and it’s not worsening the bleeding and your doctor hasn’t advised otherwise, then it’s fine. I don’t know what the risks of uterine infection would be, but if you are concerned ask your doctor. Just be mindful it does take a while to heal. I went back to work 7 days after my d & c because I felt fine, but then started loosing lots of blood and huge clots.

As for when you can get pregnant, I ovulated right on time 14 days after my d & c. I took a month off though as I really needed the break emotionally from thinking about pregnancy. But I got pregnant the next month when we started trying again and had a lovely straightforward pregnancy.

I do think give some consideration to any healing you need to do emotionally rather than physically. My body was probably ready to get pregnant right away, but I wasn’t and really needed a break.

When I miscarried I had a medical intervention, so no surgery required. I was still told not to have sex for a month because of the risk of infection.
Did I listen? No. I didn't get an infection but I have since heard some scary stories from friends I made along the way.

I would call your EPU or the department which handled your miscarriage treatment and ask for their opinion.

I totally understand wanting to get right back at it, and also the crazy hormones that just make temptation impossible to resist but looking back I think I was being a bit silly risking sepsis.

They told me to wait 28 days to reduce risk of infection
